I don't know why you equate toughness or gangster with just physical courage or being a hard man. Until the assassination attempt I hadn't thought of Trump having physical courage. His reaction to the shooting showed him as being courageous enough about his own safety. However, when I think of Trump's courage I tend to think of him foremost as not backing down under legal, media or financial adversity. He does not wilt under pressure. In fact I'd say he is drawn to high pressure situations.

We've just witnessed the Dem candidate refuse to pick a Jewish running mate. At her first major decision she's wimped out at offending a small but vocal minority of Dem voters. She has just publicly ran away from political adversity or danger.
