Neither of them live in the US either, and no first hand evidence of how either President affects day to day living. Mind boggling stuff.
Here’s the thing. Who the President of the United States is generally has very little day to day impact on my (or most other people’s) life. By and large, life tends to go on. That said, there are certain things that I want this country to represent and aspire to be in the world.
Trump proved to be an absolute disasterclass on every level in those regards. Sure, you can make the argument that the economy did well until COVID, but at what price did everyone see their investments grow? He spent four years picking at scabs of racial tension that have been festering for 150 years. He pushed through a tax cut for him and his rich friends that continues to widen the wealth gap to a level that is now approaching pre-Revolution France levels. He cozied up to the likes of Kim Jong Un and Putin, even to the point that he threw his own CIA under the bus by saying he believed Putin was more trustworthy than them. He had his government pursue inhumane policies on the Southern border where families were separated without even doing basic 18th century record keeping, and now some children may never be returned to their parents. He was such an insecure child about losing the 2020 election, that he spent weeks propagating lies and conspiracy theories which eventually culminated in a violent coup attempt that ended 250 years of consistent peaceful transfer of power.
*Edit- Somehow I forgot to even mention his handling of COVID. The greatest crisis of most of our lifetime’s, and basically threw up his hands and said, “this isn’t what I signed up for.”
Are all those things worth a few extra thousand dollars in a retirement account or gas prices being $0.50 cheaper? Not to me, but maybe to someone more cynical.
