I don’t think they will have much choice to be honest. The government will need to bring in new legislation protecting people affected by Covid from losing their homes. How that can work or be implemented is anyone’s guess but they seem to have done ok so far. I am still expecting total chaos in 6 months mind. An unstable economy coupled with Brexit will be a disaster for many I think.

Unless someone coughs blood into your mouth, you are fine. This is nothing but the flu with election-driven media hype. That's it. Of course, Biden will beat this drum and it will pay political dividends.

Biden has a great strategy. Lay low, don't go anywhere, no press conferences, and a few tweets a day about how Republicans want everyone in the country to die. It is nonsensical and obvious, but it will still resonate with half the country.

We are using a fake medical calamity to create a real economic depression to influence an election. Is this America?

Are there idiots of this magnitude in the UK, who after everything actually still think this thing is a hoax? Or is that a uniquely American Trump supporter thing at this point?

There’s definitely people who simply ignore reality (a certain referendum and particularly its aftermath spring to mind).

It is, though the Times really should have given a bit more prominence to the notion that this was some attempt to get retribution for the several hundred Russian "mercenaries" killed at Deir-el-Zour. It was probably always intended to come out, as well.
