I am a great believer in the adage "you get the politians you deserve ". America voted for the person they wanted and that was Trump. Britian isn't in a position to pass judgement we voted for Boris.
To some extent you’re right. However, the 3 million more Americans voted for the candidate who actually lost the election. As terrible as the outcome was, collectively the country did just barely have it’s head screwed on right, it’s just that our bizarre electoral system (again) produced a winner who didn’t get the most votes.I am a great believer in the adage "you get the politians you deserve ". But surely if the country was concerned that democracy wasn't working and the people receiving the most votes were not winning there would be an outcry to changes the system. Having said that I do not live in America so I may not be aware of a mass movement to change the voting system and secondly I live in Northen Ireland where we vote for buck eejits. To some extent you’re right. There is definitely some appetite for changing the system, but it’s not all that widespread....yet. Since 2000, the US has held five presidential elections, and twice the candidate who received the most votes lost. If that continues to happen, public outcry may get louder. However, the system as it works now effectively serves to allow a political party who is in the minority (and probably getting smaller with each passing year) to control most of the levers of government, so don’t expect them to give it up easily. But surely if the country was concerned that democracy wasn't working and the people receiving the most votes were not winning there would be an outcry to changes the system. I think even the FF would concede that they weren’t omniscient geniuses, otherwise they wouldn’t have laid out a means of amending the Constitution right from the outset. It's almost like those founding fathers actually WEREN'T omniscient geniuses and seers of supernatural ability
EDIT: Don't get me wrong, in a lot of ways they did an impressive job, laying the basic foundations for a country that in a relatively short space of time came to lead the world... but this stance that so many seem to have of "it's in the constitution" as if there's no way that something written a couple of hundred years ago MIGHT not be relevant in the 21st century is just bizarre.
Oh I have no doubt that THEY didn't consider themselves to be that... It's portions of later generations that seem to have (disingenuously, if you ask me) taken that stanceI think even the FF would concede that they weren’t omniscient geniuses, otherwise they wouldn’t have laid out a means of amending the Constitution right from the outset.

Hard to watch that video and see how people are so worried about Biden’s mental state. At least when Biden slips up its when he’s speaking off the cuff, all while battling a pretty well documented lifelong stutter. Meanwhile, Trump can’t even seem to read off a prepared statement.
Calling them jurors, as if there were actually some sort of trial.....cute.I just feel for all the jurors who just voted him back in, the poor dears.
