The Department of Justice, which has ultimate say over federal indictments, has generally maintained (since before Trump) that a sitting president can't be indicted for a crime and that impeachment itself serves as the constitutional means by which an egregiously erring president can be removed from office.I don't understand this. Surely he should be tried in a criminal court? What's the point of going through the motions if the Republican held Senate will just let him off.

I could watch him all day, every day. Mesmerisingly weird.
It's everything though, from physical appearance to choice of words, the odd repeating of buzz words, the total blind belief in himself at a level I have never seen anything close to, the dumbed down way in which he speaks on matters of huge importance, total ignorance of fact, it goes on. I genuinely do not know where to start, the most bizarre man in history surely. It`s his hair that gets me, it`s starting to turn into a mini landing deck on an aircraft carrier.

I know what you mean. I just see it as hypnotic. I am open mouthed and aghast watching itI can't do it. Boils my piss too much.

Trump could potentially face charges for any crimes committed during his presidency once he's out of office, assuming the statute of limitations hasn't run out. But it's not in the manner of mob bosses to commit the crimes themselves, so any indictments brought would presumably be a heavy lift as well.
Right, it's become an untested convention but so long as the DOJ is running interference for Trump it has the force of law.Supreme Court Vs. Nixon failed to rule on this and nobody has come back to it since.
