also worth pointing out that now that we know Trump lied about Russian business dealings during the campaign, we also know that Putin had leverage over him as he could have outed the lie and inflicted harm at any time. Candidate Trump was compromised by a foreign power.

The shady guys that Trump like to work with have lots of other skeletons in their closets (see Cohen, Michael) so it might be entirely unrelated. Although as we have seen those other charges can be used to encourage co-operation deals...
Trump has cancelled meetings with Putin, Erdogan and Moon. There were important national topics to discuss with each (Ukraine, Kashoggi murder and denuclearization) - why bother going if he is just going to sit in his room and tweet?
