Current Affairs Donald Trump POS: Judgement cometh and that right soon

Thought this was a very good thread explaining what Cohen’s role in Trump world was and that investigating him is very much in Mueller’s purview as Cohen was the main foreign dealmaker

If in the course of that investigation Mueller found something criminal but that was not explicitly tied to the Russia investigation, say bank fraud or tax non-payment, is Paul suggesting they should just ignore it? That certainly seems to be line MAGAs are pushing on twitter.

It’s like the police searching somebody’s house looking for stolen property and finding a load of heroin and just putting it back because they weren’t looking for that .

In principle I am sympathetic to Paul’s concerns as I do think sometimes bounds are overstepped - this case for instance

The startling but murky development caps months of classified conflict over a discovery by the defense team that its privileged attorney-client meetings may be monitored by the U.S. government. In June, the general advised war court defense attorneys that he had lost confidence in the integrity of “all potential attorney-client meeting locations” at Guantánamo.

But for Cohen I’m highly doubtful there were major corners cut because of the public scrutiny it was known these actions would draw, and unlike Sen Paul I’d say exactly the same if it was Hillary Clinton’s attorney that had been raided overnight.

Was just coming on here to post that.

I’ve followed Popehat (Ken White irl) for a while as he does some excellent legal explainers - as a former Assistant United States Attorney in Los Angeles prosecuting fraud cases in the Government Fraud and Public Corruption Section you’d presume he knows this area well.

Btw his site has crashed but here is another link to the article

The Stormy Daniels payout may be outside the scope of the Russia investigation, but it’s possible that Mr. Cohen’s records are full of materials that are squarely within that scope. And the law is clear: If investigators executing a lawful warrant seize evidence of additional crimes, they may use that evidence. Thus Mr. Trump and Mr. Cohen, with their catastrophically clumsy handling of the Daniels affair, may have handed Mr. Mueller devastating evidence.

It’s easy to conclude that after so many bombshells, this is just another overfrantic news cycle. It’s not. It’s highly dangerous, and not just for Mr. Cohen. It’s perilous for the president, whose personal lawyer now may face a choice between going down fighting alone or saving his own skin by giving the wolves what they want.

Can't see Cohen flipping.

I feel for you Rafuh, I've hidden a load of trump supporters on my wall as their deranged rantings were making me sad, same with some brexit posters. It's a shame as I hardly use FB anymore now and it was great for keeping in touch with people. Social media eating it's self i guess.

I have purposefully kept this crowd so I don't live in an echo chamber... many are family after all lol.
Quite the eclectic group really, including a couple of loons on the very far left.
