Let me take a moment here to point out that in addition to the email issues addressed by James Comey yesterday, Mrs. Clinton has to still deal with the ongoing (and unmentioned) FBI investigation of the Clinton Foundation for corruption while she was the sitting Secretary of State. If you read his note carefully, you'll see that the scope of his statement does not address any questions regarding the Clinton Foundation, which is an investigation separate from the one concerning the bathroom server.

This won't keep her from getting elected, but it will be back to haunt her unless she decides to carry out her own "Saturday Night Massacre" along the way. You'll see many more references to Watergate in coming months and years to draw parallels to what you're seeing in real time.

I find the whole celeb-endorsement onstage pantomime quite disturbing but did laugh a lot this morning when an American journalist being interviewed on Sky News said that the highest profile celeb that Trump could rustle up was Scott Baio from Happy Days.lol

In fairness, Trump has also been endorsed by Dale Winton, Don King and Jenna Jameson.

...according to the Times. That's part of the story, to be sure. There's the Sun, and there's the Times, and there's the Sun-Times. I used to read them, but much less now. (The Sun not at all, of course - I liked the pictures once...) I keep a pinch of salt in my pocket for when I do.

As long as actions are not indictable, they're all right. That's the hallmark of life in the Clinton administration.

Just like old times. We were lucky then, because times were good and the world was simpler. We'll see how it works out the second time around.

edit: If you think I'm hoping I'm right, you're badly misinterpreted my position. These are fears, not hopes.

I think you're probably right about this. Without Trump (likely in prison within a few months due to any number of more-indictable ongoing investigations, assuming he doesn't win) most of Clinton's appeal will fade. Republicans will continue to interdict government, the President will respond by governing through executive orders, and Bernie supporters, who mostly don't follow politics apart from the Presidency, will be alienated as usual by the modest returns.

It does seem fairly clear that if anyone other than Trump had run against her, Clinton would lose, possibly even quite badly, thus ending the Democratic Party as a national political force.

i do try to read a wide range of sources - though i draw the line at things like Breitbart etc.

not like it makes me any less flippant on the internet, but i have to be measured and balanced in my professional writing and if you can't blow off steam about politics on a footy forum then where can you?

Out of interest, what do you read for a balanced opinion. I'm conscious of the echo chamber but can't consume fox/britebart/drudge etc.
