Let’s be honest with ourselves here. If we signed a forward player who scored at a rate of 1 in 7, heads would be rolling. People would be screaming for Walsh’s head, and he’d be written off. As it is he’s a young English lad with some talent and seems to get a pass because of that. He’s a fine player, but he’s not ready to lead a premier league line. Hes got potential but doesn’t score near enough given the minutes he’s had.

He's improved immeasurably.
Add goals and he's a serious talent.
Kind of the point of being a striker no?

Seen enough to see what kind of player he will be
If tosun is going to play upfront a striker with pace is essential, if no one better is available a loan for rashford wouldn't be a bad idea.

I don't think anyone is disputing that he isn't ready to lead the line for a Premier League team yet, but that's the situation that the staff at our club have forced him into this season and, considering this, he's done rather well.
Ok. His goal return for me means he hasn't done very well at all. He's tried. He's filled in. Maybe he's done as well as could be expected, but that's different than actually doing well.

Southgate could call upon Calvert-Lewin as he seeks more options in attackBRADLEY ORMESHER/THE TIMES
Gareth Southgate is considering including Dominic Calvert-Lewin, the Everton forward, in his plans for England’s matches with Holland and Italy this month.

The 20-year-old trained with the senior squad in November before the friendly with Brazil after being promoted from the under-21 set-up, but the England coach is keen to call him up in his own right.

Southgate has a shortage of strikers performing at club level with Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy leading the charge and has made a point of promoting youth.

Calvert-Lewin, who scored when England Under-20 won the World Cup last June, shouldered the burden for Everton in the first half of the season and returned to their starting line-up at the weekend.

Bloody hell Sagey: wins the header, first to the knock down, sidesteps a defender, great shot saved by the keeper and first to the rebound to steer it in - what the hell do you want from a young lad, in a final, from the edge of the area with two defenders in attendance and the best keeper in the tournament to beat?

Tbf he doesn't hit the corner... just like when he is playing for us. Difference being that in the prem the goalie will deal with it and he won't get the rebound

Would like to see at least 1 Everton player in the England squad tbh. He's probably the only English player we have beside Pickford who's performed with any kind of consistency.

He has played consistently, but that is about as much as I believe can be said about him. England really are in a dire state, if DCL is the level of player they are having to choose.

He is part of a team. I think it’s only Hudd Town and Swansea who have created fewer chances then us. Their top scorers got six goals, while DCL got four. I think he performs what you can expect. Also, he has often been used on the flanks. He is a promising player, but there are certainly some parts of his game he have to work on – as expected of a young talented player. But our biggest concern should be the lack of chances we create. If we produce a lot of chances and our strikers consistently misses, then we got a problem.

Allardyce just needs to go up to him, put both hands on his shoulders, look into his eyes and say "son, your not going to make it". If he does it right it should be like the scene from good will hunting when Williams hugs Matt damon.
