2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

But here's my proposed DCL contract.
NPGs = non penalty goals
25k a week base
35k after 3 NPGs
45k after 6 NPGs
60k after 9 NPGs
80k after 11 NPGs
100k after 13 NPGs
150k after 15 NPGs
Thanks for typing all of that out mate. I hope that helped your mental health to vent this publicly.

There's no way DCL would sign something like that. There's always another sucker who will pay him 80k+p/w on a free transfer.

I feel sorry for him. He's a good lad and when fully fit he's a real handful I think of palace and the RS at home. But he's rarely fit and when he's just coming back from injury he's poor. Just can't rely on him
I'd have no dramas in adjusting his wages accordingly, with the understanding that he won't be first choice based on the above.
But if he's not willing to come to the table, then good luck elsewhere.

Regardless of whether he signs or leaves, you have to think that most strikers would have struggled in Dyches system over the year and a half while he was in charge.

For me the injury frailty is the biggest concern
Beto is an example of how a capable manager, adopting progressive rather than regressive tactics, can improve a player significantly.

Could Moyes do the same with Dom? Who knows, but I'd be inclined to believe we would see an improvement, at least.

Of course they're not the same, not literally anyway, but they're both perfectly valid units of judging a players goal output.

How can you say you've never seen a striker judged on goals per season before? Surely you know that any club worth their salt wants the much sought after '20 goals a season' striker?
While we make do with a 20 appearances a season striker, I honestly can't wait to see the back of DCL

I'm would of agreed with you at one time, however he was presented with 2 excellent chances against Villa and missed both. However even Broja when he came on at Arsenal away looked more dangerous. I don't think he's a bad player, I just don't trust him to take chances, he just doesn't have ruthless streak or any character that other strikers have. Beto isn't perfect but he will fight and make defenders lives difficult. DCL had 2 chances against Newcastle and missed both.

He has to leave. He needs a new challenge and we need to refresh our scoring options. Somethings just come to there natural end and Everton and DCL have reached that point. I personally wish him well, I hope he goes on to do good things for another club overseas or in the championship. I read that he is looking for a Champions League team, personally I can’t see it. DCL is a big unit and can do a job in professional football but lacks the clinical edge to play regularly for a team at the very top level.
