2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

I respect your commitment to your beliefs if nothing else because good golly.

For me Maupay is right up there with the worst ever Everton signings/players. Did nothing on the pitch and was openly disruptive off it. Dom's career ultimately has been a disappointment but for me there's no comparison between the 2 whatsoever, DCL is miles clear. And dont like the guy fwiw.

Maupay wasn't making matchday squads for Marseille last season and is about to be punted to Coventry where he belongs. Dom will definitely end up at a top flight club albeit probably as a back up.
Other than them both being strikers there is no comparison to be made with them anyway.

They both fail to score in completely different ways.

Context is key though. I'm not defending Maupay so let's reign that in.

The arguement was Dom isn't a Potter type player. Counter to that was he played Welbeck and Maupay who are different types of strikers and both technically better on the ball than Dom.

Not saying you're defending him, but to say he's better with the ball at his feet than Calvert Lewin is somewhat mind-boggling to me personally.

As I said I've reached my limit with Dom and am very happy that we're moving on. At the same time, I think that he has tbf shown glimpses of quality that Maupay hasn't at any club. Goal vs Spurs last season is first example that comes to mind.

Personally think he is, the same with Welbeck. Which is why he's still at a more technically focussed Brighton team and why Maupay when back to Brentford under the now Spurs manager and scored more than he did here.

Horrible player and it never worked here but he never suited our style and also the argument why Dom wouldn't suit Graham Potter's style.

Could be wrong on that front. But you'd think he'd be looking for more fluid and technically gifted striker. They also have Fullkrug as the grock up top.

Wish id never replied to that now.

And you are of course entitled to your opinion.

Apologies if you felt like I was digging you out, wasn't my intention.

Will scrub out my Fulham suggestion.

Was reading a bit more of Big Dunc's book this evening (yes I was in Tesco again 🤣 ) and was scanning through the chapters of him working as number 2, cone taker for the managers in last decade and he said Marco Silva was the worst at putting down players and referenced him continually being critical at DCL in early part of 2019 season so would be surprised if he fancies that.

Maupay's going to Coventry?! So Lampard would actually sign him twice, struggle to believe that.

DCL lacks in power, pace and consistency.

Successful center forwards tend to have those qualities.

He can occasionally hit the box at the right time and poke a goal in.

I think he's genuine enough, he just is what he is, and we've watched him be that for a very long time now.
