2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Probably best for DCL to move on. I don't think the club will offer him what he's currently making and someone else almost certainly will. Between him, Keane, & Doucoure alone, we're going to free up quite a bit in wages for new players.

Mate he was offered one in October 23 then one again last summer.

His agency told the club he wasn't signing.

Some of which has been was reported in the Athletic and most of which Mr @The Bobble could substantiate.

I appreciate your stance but just because you're not convinced it doesn't mean it never happened.

"We didn't offer him a new contract"

It was only the BBC and every other national media outlet running the news. It's not like it was just The Bobble, it's widely accepted as a fact.

Plenty of others confirmed he previously turned us down and turned Newcastle down over wages.

He certainly wasn’t in a rush to commit his future in the summer, when his contractual status – hurtling into the final 12 months of his current deal – meant Everton were open to offers for him.

As it turned out just one was forthcoming, from Saturday’s visitors Newcastle United. But Eddie Howe’s enthusiasm for the striker was not enough to clinch a deal which was officially torpedoed due to wage demands.

This article from last October claims he wss refusing to hear our contract offers.

It is understood Everton made some overtures to Calvert-Lewin last month about discussing a new contract but there is little enthusiasm from the player for the conversation right now. That is an understandable position for Calvert-Lewin, who knows he won’t be short of options as a free agent next summer.

I'm sure some people will if ore this in favour of whatever fantasy they prefer instead but he's definitely turned down at least one contract offer and probably more in recent times.

I think he's probably going to leave but I'd have him around the squad if he wants to stay.

Well it's hard to outline things that are intangible. Hold up play, winning aeriel duals, linking play, getting us up the pitch etc.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin's aerial prowess is one of those deceptive statistics, like our defenders leading the league in various categories simply because we've played with so little possession and they've had to perform more measurable defensive actions. Others may do it more effectively, or at a better percentage, but they just flat out do it more often.

DCL's aerial duels are the same way. He's about 50/50, whether he's pushing for the league lead or not. For comparison, in 2023-2024, Tarkowski and DCL led the league in aerial duels won, Tarkowski with 144 and DCL with 139. But Tarkowski has an elite success rate of 70%, whereas DCL was a bang average 49%.

This partly comes down to playing hoof ball under Dyche, but if you look at any season DCL has played, he's around 50%. That's a little better than Beto at 45%, but you can't claim that DCL has any special aerial prowess. And if he's so great at link-up play, where are the assists the supplement for the lack of goals? He's gets about as many assists as he's expected to, which is 1 or 2, but only a little over half his expected goals, which is abysmal. Beto at least has score 86% of his expected goals over the last four years. Ergo, if you play him, he will score. DCL? Not so much.

Should drop down a division and try and get his team Sheffield United promoted alongside his bff Tom Davies. Alas I think he's hoping for a Premier League starting role, but it won't be at Everton. Tbf he can probably get a starting spot at any of the promoted clubs.

We should definitely let him go.

If only for the inevitable mid-season shouts of "we miss Dom" or "stupid to let him go" if we end up short up top due to injuries or not recruiting/struggle for goals/he has a little spell of form.

GOT fuel 101.

First pre season game where he slots 2 away against Boreham Wood "ffs what a mistake not to give him a 150k a week contract"

@catcherintherye This gentlemen has go through the trouble of plucking a few articles out for our perusal.

I think we can put this matter to bed now.

He's been offered a deal.
