2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Given how many games he’s played for the club I don’t think the number of goals he’s scored in that time is much of an achievement personally

He's played most either under bad teams or as a young player. His starts are less than Duncan and Cahill from memory. It's a decent record.

Only 2 lads have scored more, so it's hardly a huge weakness as people make out.

I'm not convinced he was. Moyes said there was no contract earlier.

I doubt he wanted to stay under Dyche, which is understandable really.
Mate he was offered one in October 23 then one again last summer.

His agency told the club he wasn't signing.

Some of which has been was reported in the Athletic and most of which Mr @The Bobble could substantiate.

I appreciate your stance but just because you're not convinced it doesn't mean it never happened.

It didn't happen. I don't view what Bobble says as particularly reliable.

There is an offer on the table now, and he is considering it, as is his right.

I don't think Thelwell fancied him.

Between Sam (horrible football) Allarydyce where he was our only player in the opposition half & ran himself ragged for months, & Sean (doing everything I can to get a payoff) Dyche when we didn't try & win at home I'm amazed he's done as well as he has here.

Is he mad?!?

Teams higher up the assets league than us are interested. He does an enormous amount other than the goals, and we have seen with a decent manager he scores too. So it makes sense. Let's see where he ends up.

I suspect wherever he ends up, it will be better than us under Dycheball.
What exactly is this mythical”enormous amount” the DCL does? I’d really like to see it explained and supported with facts.

Well I would say he does an enormous amount, our results have been much better with him in.

One of the jobs is to score, but they have other jobs too.

He has also scored a fair amount too, often playing on awful or very defensive teams. Only 2 have scored more in the last 30 years.
Half agree with you esp with the awful and defensive style and players have had esp last few seasons. But just cant accept him doing an enormous amount, he does have games when the ball just sticks to him and causes massive problems for defenders. And before that hasnt really had any quality cf to fight with so ofc results be better with him. Until this season with beto could you really say we missed dlc? For me a strikers main job is to score, i cant really accept saying he does an enormous amount when played 26 and got 3 goals. when we have had forwards he. I agree his hold up play is great and if he signs a deal here my target for tge season for him is atleast 10 goals in the league. Is fair to have different views on playes as we will all like different traits and styles just have to disagree with you

Think he was badly advised there, unfortunately (& I know its shorts he's wearing).
It was the timing as much as the outfit. It made him seem utterly vacuous, self-absorbed, and detached from what was supposed to be his main job. Of course, it rubbed the usuals up the wrong way too. Which is always a good thing.

But yeah, I don't think the timing painted him in a good light when he had been sorely missed for so long.

Fair enough mate. Maybe we are quibbling terms. I can't think of many forwards we have had who gave more to the team outside of goals as him. Duncan, maybe Kevin Campbell.
