2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

We offered him one this time last year he wanted more wages nearly went to Newcastle, but they could not meet his demands - we have offered him a lesser contract - he will leave on a free maybe if anyone will gamble on his injuries - I think he may go ?

I'm not sure we did.

Newcastle pulled out of the deal when Wilson got injured, as they needed to sell him first.

Offered one in Jan, then again in the summer. Tried to offload him once he turned those down and again offered him one recently when he indicated he's willing to re-sign.

Not according to Moyes we didn't.

Either way, I'm wondering how the anti-DCL MOB want this to play out. It's like Schrodinger's cat, simultaneously angry he will sign a contract and he won't sign a contract.

I doubt we have offered him that appealing terms, and I wouldn't be surprised if he took up a better offer with a team in Europe to be honest. But let's see.

Moyes wasn't here 12 months ago. It was widely reported and even commented on by Dyche we were trying to keep him.

We have undoubtedly offered worse terms now than we did last summer, that's part of the gamble of running a contract down.

I remain unconvinced the club offered him a contract last summer.

I think Thelwell wanted to sell him, but unfortunately no bids came in, apart from Newcastle, who then pulled out when their Wilson deal broke down.

I think Thelwell thought (understandably) his injury record is a risk.

I honestly wouldn't take much of what Dyche says seriously.

It was very widely reported at the time and never refuted by DCLs camp but maybe you're right and it was a grand conspiracy by Everton and Dyche to be lashing out phantom contract offers via the press to make him look bad.

I mean lots of things get reported. I'm not sure it's a conspiracy either, but I don't think they got to offering a contract.

I also think DCL had any interest in signing to play under Dyche.

Apparently they had a big fall out. Which I can believe.
