2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Do you think her post can be read as a dig against the support?

"They might not shout it - but we're proud every single day"

Definitely has an implication that they don't feel he's supported, rightly or wrongly.

I can see why some might take the hump at that but sending messages isn't on.

Some one threatened her and her child.
Over a comment over football.
That's indefensible and anyone who even thinks that stuff like that is fair game honestly needs help.
My god even trying to defend it..
Pond life .

Her post was at worst a very powderpuff veiled criticism of fans, there's no need for anybody to be annoyed about it in the first place, nevermind be sending that sort of abuse. It's not really a case of 'some of our fans' being a problem though, it's just a reflection of society as a whole. People think it's fine to just say whatever they want online and there should be no comeback at all, it's grim.

I'm not defending it, nobody is. Its out of order.

Where has anyone said it's fair game? You're making up things in your head to be angry at.

Let's not pretend that it wasn't started off with a backhand dig at the fans though, it was and it deserves a mention.

I agree that she was very daft, or naive to bait the fans with that dig.

But under no circumstances should ANY fan be sending abuse to players or their families. EVER.

So both points can be true.

If that's inflammatory, people need thicker skins. My Lord.

I think the same advice could be given to her. I get it: they feel under appreciated by the club and think that DCL deserves better, but posting the way she does is at best going to annoy fans and at worst attract the idiots.

He just needs to get his move and hopefully it works out well for them.

Let's also be honest here and state that this isn't the first time his camp has had a pop at the support for whatever reason. His dad had a few comments when he got in the England squad.

Isn't every football player going to get criticism online? I don't know why it would be any different for Dom.

I don't recall too many other players having their family members posting digs online tbh.

It's so obvious DCL and those around him don't want to be here. So when you hear noises being made about another contract being signed you can't help but despair. The only reason for that could be that no one else is going to pay anywhere near what he thinks he can get here.

I don't see why it's hard to believe both of those things.

The reaction probably doesn't happen without the post.

Is the post itself the reason for that level of reaction? No, it absolutely isn't but when you open the door these idiots will push their way in.

Posters are saying she left herself open to it . She didn't only to people who really need to have a look at themselves.
But im not surprised at all.
