2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

why the hatred for this guy and the love in for Coleman.

Both signed for cheap fees
both given their best years
both injury prone Coleman more than DCL
both love playing for the blues
Coleman has a song DCL does not
Coleman has always put international career before club, hence still not retired

People always say DCL is stealing a living yet Coleman sits in the background making his millions

When Son broke Gomes leg, our captain yes that right our captain went over to see if he was OK 🤔
Then fans say make sure Coleman plays last game at Goodison and 1st Game at Bramley Moor 🤔

Also not seen any social media posts from Coleman lately with regards to our good form.

But let's go on hounding a guy out who has had scraps to feed off when playing for some shocking managers over the past 5 years.

one last thing DCL scores goals in this current set up under Moyes

Not sure they are at all comparable.

Coleman is right at the end of his career and has only been injury prone since he had his leg nearly snapped off by the Welsh guy. Although, I think it is generally a bit ridiculous to 'hate' a footballer for being injury prone. It can be used as a reason to sell/retire but to actually hate and abuse another person for something they have little to no control over is a bit strange in my books.

I tend to agree they have both given their best years (in Colemans case he has given all his playing years to us), although it is not 100% that Calvert-Lewin would not have a few very good years left in him, injuries aside.

Is this what the world has come to, there have been a couple of mentions of 'no social media posts, therefore they don't care about the good form'. You do know that humans can interact face to face and/or privately don't you? Is this still a thing, or am I that out of touch?

I still like Calvert-Lewin and there is a large part of me that wants him to get over this period of injury and have a few years scoring a few goals for us but alas, I don't think it is to be.

What a very silly post

Apart from the fact that nobody has shown Dom any hatred and you just decided to spin it that way it would probably come down to the fact that one of them has been here for over decade and performed very well over that entire period.

If Dom had consistency outside of two of his eight seasons here and stays for another six then he will probably be looked at similarly.

Another key point to add is that I don't ever remember hearing Seamus refusing to sign contracts. Add that to four years of poor form and goalscoring return and it's not a mystery why people aren't seeing them the same way.

Nobody hates him. They are just utterly bored of him. And bored of his fanboys on here that have been made to look very silly indeed.
I am not a fanboy DCL has had problems with form injuries and at times he has been frustrating to watch, yes he should have scored more goals, he has also scored some cracking goals and led the line very well, he has always been proud to wear the number 9 shirt, I just think he gets a raw deal with some fans

Not yet we havent.

If when he comes back, he struggles to score, then we have been made to look a bit silly.

But currently, the only people looking silly are the people having a pop at an injured player.

Don't make me go to the vaults for the Beto shouts @Goat

He has shown up a lot of folks in this thread. The word Donkey was thrown around A LOT. It's fair to say it and you've admitted you were wrong fair play.

I feel like a bad challenge snapping your leg in half isn’t quite the same as DCLs type of injury prone. May have been similar amounts of time off, but Coleman’s was leg breaks and old age, DCL wasn’t.

Quite harsh on Coleman

The Beto shouts from before Moyes? Knock yourself out.

Like or not, but he was horrific.

He was bad in his 10 minutes off the bench but looked a handful, to those willing to see it, in the cup matches he started.

People can accept that for Beto but won't allow anyone to criticize Dom for being horrific for four years.

Fact is people went overboard on Beto being useless simply to avoid having the conversation about whether Dom was becoming an issue. Now that Beto has started and scored some the conversation has swung around.

It's worth pointing out o e of those players is an injury prone 30 year old who already played an entire decade for us and the other one is 27 and hasn't managed a full season maybe more than twice in his 8 years here.

Apples and oranges

Regardless of the goals argument, I am most concerned about his injury history. I do not think he would drastically improve under Moyes like some think, but we wouldn't know unless he played more than two games. Would I bet high wages on Dom to come good or compete with Beto given his record and injury history thus far? No.

Well I'm sure when Dom comes back and starts scoring you will be the first to come in here and admit you were wrong.

...not in the last 3 years or so though when he's stunk the gaff out?

He's 'kin tripe.

Ilm embarrassed for anyone who still argues the likes of Calvert Lewin's case. They're only slightly less lamentable than the Patterson supporters.
