2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

DCL made a mistake listening to his agent in my opinion. I don't know what he was offered by Everton to stay earlier in the season, but it would have been half decent. Imagine running down your contract to get a better deal when your that injury prone and you've only scored 3 goals all season. It's hardly an attractive option for another club. No Transfer fee, great! High wages... erm, what's his stats like? Long injury lay offs and doesn't score much... I'll pass thanks.
It`ll be interesting to see the vast number of clubs fighting for his signature come June.

You mean like Gyokeres who went to Sporting for £20m and has scored 52 goals this season. There are players out there who can improve this team within a reasonable budget. They just take good recruitment and opportunities.
I think Gyokeres is a good player but to be fair scoring a load in Portugal is like scoring a load in Scotland, there's no guarantee that you're going to transfer that to a league like the PL. Inter signed Taremi who was top scorer there the year before and he's only scored once for them.

We need someone who can have an impact 18 yards and closer. Don't care about towering headers and flick ons to no one at midfield. My word, some of you never want to win anything, "but he's good in the air, his hold up play is second to none....blah blah blah" I want someone who can stay fit and score more than one goal every 10+ games.

Move on, people act like he was Lukaku. Couldn't even lace Rom's boots without pulling a hamstring. We can do better

No problem with him at all as a bloke or a footballer, other than the % of his last contract that he’s been unavailable. With a squad the size ours has been, and is likely to be for a couple more years, thats a problem.

It's more about trying to be realistic. There are only 2 or 3 players in the squad I would be bothered about keeping hold of, but we can't replace everyone at the same time. If DCL is re-signed to be our main striker next season then i'm not going to be happy, if he's re-signed because letting a decent asset go on a free isn't seen as a good idea and the aim is for him to be a squad player behind a better option that we pick up using money that we get from selling Beto then I think it probably makes sense.

Most Evertonians under 40 don't know what it is to win - and most Evertonians over 40 have forgotten what it is to win.

We've got a serious culture problem that I hope these capitalist Yanks blow wide open...with the best-possible outcome, naturally.

The issue is the club will try to resign him and to save money on that area of the pitch again. I have no confidence in the club to go out and get a real number 9. Re-signing him gives the club the same reasoning as some of the people on here, he does some bits here and there and that's good enough. Shouldn't be re-signing him for any role based on his injury record and availability. Waste of money, use it elsewhere.

Like I said, if that's what happens then I'll complain about it then. As a standalone decision, I wouldn't have any issue with them giving him a new deal.

This contract debacle has been frustrating and he’s not helped himself, if he has decided his best option is to stay.
- I don’t have a problem if he does stay providing he’s not given a bumper contract/wages, we sell Beto and bring in another striker who is capable of being a starter each week with DCL as back up with the onus on him to fight for a starting position.

Agreed but I think he's got a lot more to his game. I could see him doing very well at the Arse , in fact he might even take them to the title.

Slightly missing the point. We will not be spending anywhere near 30 mil on a player. What will do, is renew a load of contracts we should not touch with a barge poll. Thats just the position we are in
