There’s possibly two goals that are equivalent to the ones im talking about Beto finishing (being played through necessitating taking a touch and beating the keeper)

He was a very good striker that season but it’s a collection of first time finishes, tap ins, headers etc.

If push came to shove and I had my mortgage on an Everton striker going through on goal after being played through I’d be picking Beto over DCL. Doesn’t mean he’s a better striker than DCL because I doubt Beto is there to score the pull backs and headers DCL does, but people saying Calvert Lewin would slot these chances he’s missed? I just don’t think he’s even there and if he is I doubt he’s calmly rolling it under Allison.

He’s our third highest premier league goal scorer because anyone actually decent we’ve had has left earlier (Rooney Lukaku Richerlison) whilst he’s stayed for 9 years playing almost every single game he’s fit for because he’s had luminaries like Tosun Beto Maupay Rondon Sandro providing ‘competition’. Basically he’s not good enough to have moved, and has had zero real competition for his position.

I just think the anti-DCL crowd are very ignorant and a bit clueless, that's all.

Will be interesting to see who takes him and if it’s as a starter. He’s got injury problems and would presumably want a high wage. Perhaps a team that take him for free for PS&R issues and start him on the bench as a plan B.
