2023/24 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Remember the days when we had yakubu, Saha and James Vaughan as three competing…
Of course they were injured… but the options if the got fit
This is it really.

Regardless of DCL being out of form or being injured most normal clubs could cope with it as they would have proper replacements or different options for him.

We just need to hope that Beto and Chermiti can provide that.

I think one or both of them might be, and the only way we'll ever find out is by starting one or both of them for a decent sequence of games.

In the PL this season, Beto has played the 90 twice. His longest sequence of starting games is 3 starts, and in the latter two of them he was taken off after 60-odd minutes.

Chermiti has played the 90 once, and that is the only time in the PL this season he's played more than half an hour of a game. Everything else has been shortb cameos from the bench.

We paid £25 million for Beto, and £12 million plus for Chermiti. If DCL goes, given the money constraints we absolutely have to give them a proper opportunity to step up.
I think Chermiti will become decent enough but isnt ready to be the main starter. Beto? If we start next season as the main striker we will be bang in trouble IMO.

Sign or sell.

The club is in no position to be letting assets leave for nothing.
Oh he's an asset now? :coffee:

Turbo-gash

The end.

If he's walking about in a skirt whilst still not scoring in umpteen games he will look a bit silly TBH.

Not as silly as people who defend a non-goal scoring striker, in a skirt...

TBH.

It might well have been better if his red card was upheld.

Beto would have got three full games to show what he can do, rather than 10 mins at the end.

Needs dropping, better for the team and probably him as well.

Regardless of who replaces him it's just not working. No point carrying on the same each week.

He should stick to modelling, he's good at that.

Crap at his day job though.

Don't think your opinion holds much weight champ.

If he doesn't want to sign a new contract they'll be lots of interest, as we'll have to sell him for under his value. I can't imagine he'd want to go to the likes of Brentford or Crystal Palace though, they're not really a step up. If a Newcastle or Spurs showed interest or a decent sized European club, different option. Alternatively he might just see out his contract and leave on a free, which isn't great for us, but at least gives us a decent striker to hopefully see us into the new stadium.

13/14 we had

Lukaku Jelavic Naismith Kone Anichebe as striker options

Mirallas Deulofeu McGeady Pienaar Osman as wide attacking options

and Ross Barkley behind them all at 10

Oh for that sort of depth now. We’re absolutely miles off it.

All the lids spouting “sell Dom”!

Who’d pay good money for an injury prone, none goalscoring forward? Seriously?
Part of the problem is DCL is the this key strengths aren’t easy to replace. He brings a lot to the team when we play to to he strengths but when he is injured the team has to set up a different way.

Considering how triggered you seem to get about DCL wearing culottes (not a skirt), not sure @Hinchcliffe's Corner is the damaged one
The clique sticks together, unsurprisingly.

Happy for Dom to sign a contract, if he delivers on the pitch rather than fannying around off it in a skirt.

Happy for the club to cash in if he won't.

Can't be letting a commodity leave for nothing.

If he delivers on the pitch I’ll fanny around in one of his outfits myself.
