Seems to be about not wanting to burst the bubble as much as anything. If he was to have to be taken off injured anytime in the next few games, the realism sets in about the likely trajectory of how many more games he will play at this level.

He's having a right bad run, not so sure he will be our first choice striker when or if he does get fit.
Would be surprised if the management aren't scouring looking for a replacement.
For all the good work that we've witnessed this season, they are not going to build the team around a lad who is now a bit of a gamble.

Hes out injured, so how is he having a bad run ?

I suppose one 'good' thing about his lack of match fitness is that, even if fully fit, he shouldn't be put straight into the side anyway after Maupay won us the last game and we're looking more solid by the week. If he's fit enough, give him 30 minutes in the second half. I suppose he should also not be given the impression that he's an automatic pick either. He's gone from England squad regular to no chance whatsoever of going to the World Cup, and really up against it to get back into the national setup any time in the next year.

Basically 18months not being fully fit, coming from someone who was always fully fit.

He's a decent player when fit but needs to be replaced in the summer if he can't string games together after the world cup.

Can't pin your hopes on a feller who can't play games, see yerry mina
He'll be sold for about £15m in the summer to a club willing to just take a punt on him regaining fitness and a run of form. If he was able to recover then they could double his value easily and sell him on. Could very well see him ending up at a Bournemouth or Fulham in 10 months time.
