2021/22 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Not sure he'll be here next season, if he is we need full backs who can cross, and centre midfielders who can pass the ball forward.

"Calvert-Lewin alone was presented with 31 big chances last season, when he didn't take penalties. This season he's had 6, 3 from open play, 3 penalties. And, the worst part - Everton's entire squad have only had 28 big chances between them."

We're 19th for chances created, only Norwich worse.

20th for 'big chances missed'

Just dont create anything

Lot of that goes back to the way we were set up and instructed to play under Benitez. He said he was signing wingers so we could get balls in the box, but we ended up being 100% reliant on swinging balls in and weren't working our way into overlaps or to the byline. We were just lumping it forward rather than having link up play in the wide areas.

That'll happen when you lose Rodriguez, Soggy and Digne in one year.

Not surprising is it given we lost our 3 most creative players from last season.

No doubt. Walcott was up there in chances created too.

Point being, any striker in this Everton team struggles for the reasons I've just given.

We have to bring in players who can create.

Yup, I know we brought in Townsend and Gray but the former is just a blammo specialist and the latter is patchy. We're desperate for some clever players.

And left-footers.

Saw some stats this morning on shots. Salah and Kane around 130 shots.
I mean let's be honest dcl is not those players. But if we gave him the opportunity and supply to get off 130 shots in a season. We would see him with some decent scoring numbers.

These are really important stats. People pointing at DCL and Richie saying they don’t score enough goals - no striker is having a 15/20+ goal scoring season with that support.

Richie and DCL are two of the players who are actually good enough for a team with our ambition it’s the midfield that’s been the problem for so long. Not a single midfielder is good enough to get the in a team with ambitions of being top 6. Major surgery required there.

…thought it interesting when Lampard said he wants more ‘robust players’.

There is no way we sell a top functioning DCL but I’ve posted many times my concerns about the durability of players who have suffered major leg muscle injuries.

I’m a huge fan of his, but his performances in these last games might be ideal for pushing up his price. The club need to be hard-nosed & DCL could be an asset we can sell because of his fragility.
Then buy overrated European star strikers like e.g. Keane - I feel Rhico will be the one who leaves sadly if we lose both we are in big trouble again next season - we can get enough cash by selling the rest of the deadwood tbh - Jus wages alone will bpoost our ability to spend no need to sell your silverware IMO......

Been a tough year for DCL. Never had injuries like it before, and in a team that doesn’t create chances.

Lots have questioned his work ethic, but he’s not looked fit at times to me.

Last few games I think he’s been excellent, won everything in the air, worked his socks off, and got rewarded last night. Seeing the interviews he’s given, it’s hard to dislike the guy.

If he goes, he goes, but I’d like to see him next season in a team that creates plenty of chances, hopefully that’s with us.

I said Richarlson would score 20+ a season at Madrid or City and was booed off.

Like Danny said we don’t create enough, then get frustrated when they get 1 or 2 chances a game and don’t bury it. No players are getting 100% goal rate with only a couple of chances a game. It’s impossible.

What exactly are the injuries he is suffering with? You have to hope they are not chronic problems like tendonitis or something as that will limit him here or potentially lower his value significantly if he were to head off.

In his interview he said that people were questioning him and stuttered a little when it was as if he was going to say that he was committed to the team next season. Probably reading too much into it but you can't blame players if they want to be competing at the upper end of the table as opposed to the bottom

I've been saying for a while he's been lacking in confidence and 1 goal would transform him. He got 1 v Brentford that turned out to be not too important in the end but what a difference it made to dom. He was immense last night and that header is 1 of the best I've ever seen. What a goal
