1 open play goal lol lol lol
So, here's his 'big chances' for the season so far. Unfortunately I can't differentiate the big chances between pens and not pens however, since he's scored three of them, and his open play goal was from 2 yards out, then we can safely know that the other two big chances he's scored are the two pens.
So he's missed three other big chances. One of those will be the penalty v Brighton, the other two are (and I've just checked this to be sure) the 1v1 in the Leeds (A) game and then one v Aston Villa (H) - I assume that's either the header he put over the bar or that one where he just didn't get on the end of Gordon's cross.
Compare that to last season, when he didn't take penalties anyway, so all of the 'big chances' are from open play.
We created 31 big chances and he took 14 of them. That conversion rate might seem low to you but it's better than Vardy, Salah, Sterling, Mane, Bamford of players to have over 20 big chances last season, and all of those (bar maybe Mane) took penalties, which count towards that total as I explained.
In short, Dom's been crap. But also in short, we've not created anywhere near enough for him compared to last season. But that's what happens when you get a dinosaur manager who insists on playing a style that hasn't worked since 2006 and then proceeds to rip any creativity from the team. And now our creative fulcrum is Alex Iwobi.
