Most of our players are crap though, in fairness, hence why we're on the verge of a massively difficult relegation battle. I for one wouldn't be disappointed to see the back of most of the squad, DCL and Richarlison included.
I mean I'd prefer to sell the crap players over the good ones.

Selling good players is part of the game but we have to replace them effectively and we haven't done that.

So there's nothing wrong with wanting to build around the talent we have.

Our squad really isn't as awful as people make out. It's been managed awfully this season.

If we'd got a player like Gray in in January, for example, I reckon we'd have got Europe under Carlo, because we lacked pace on the flanks and even though I don't think Ancelotti gave King a fair crack, he isn't a winger.

But who would you replace them with? If it's not an upgrade then it's not worth it
Well it can't really be seen like that.

If you can replace effectively with a few players then you can make the team better.

For example, if we sell DCL in the summer, I'd be going for Toney and then a proper number 6 type player - 2 players there for the price of one, but two quality players.

But you should only sell one big player per window tops. No way we should sell DCL and Richarlison this summer barring us going down.

We sold Lukaku in 2017 and Stones in 2016 and you could argue Barkley too (I know it was a bit of a different situation).

Issue we've had is a) not replacing them in advance like good teams with money - which at the time we did have money - should do and b) not replacing them adequately

I really hope we keep Dom but if Arsenal came in with £65-70m I'd accept. I say that much because he's on a long contract and he's a good striker in the Premier League, and he's English. It's the minimum we should ask for.

I also think he gets unfairly pigeonholed as a target man when actually he's got much more to his game. I stand by that he would score 30 a season for Man City with the amount of chances they create that a striker of his type would absolutely thrive on.
Tammy Abraham and Giroud did very well under Lampard and I would see DCL more like them. I think he'll have a strong end to the season

Just an observation. Are there any Everton players you don't want to sell? It's just that you seem to be advocating getting shut of all our best players.
Ah, I see you're still having the same reading comprehension problems you've always had.

Try actually reading the posts instead of deciding what they say beforehand. I'm not advocating selling him, nor was I advocating selling Mina yesterday. I'm saying neither of them are irreplaceable, and if we're wanting to rebuild then selling them might not be a terrible idea. I don't want us to sell them, but I can see the logic in doing it. I mean, we've finished 12th and 10th in the last 2 years, and are currently 16th. It seems a bit odd to me that some people are so convinced all our players are great when you look at that fact. Just an observation.

You're right, but unless the money is there (not sure how much money will be made available), I think we might sell him to strengthen several other areas of the squad. Maybe we can sell DCL (let's say it loses us 10-15 goals over a season), but bring in a 10-goal striker (hardly a world class goal-scoring rate) and a much better centre half who makes 2 errors a season costing us goals, as opposed to Michael Keane who costs us about 10 goals a season. Net result, we gain more points.

All about keeping him fit and having him involved in the game much more, so he gets more of a feel for the ball and doesn't think he'll only get one, difficult chance per game

Of course, but nobody wants the crap ones, which is why we've only been able to recoup £2m (Schneiderlin) from about £300m spent. It's utterly horrific recruitment by the club over about six years, but you can only sell what somebody else wants to buy. I know there is the phrase "One man's trash is another man's treasure", but that definitely doesn't apply to Everton, unless it's when we pick up loanees who impress and can turn into good players for us, a la Gray and those under Moyes.

Cant we just sell Keane then? :) I reckon he's more replaceable than DCL

Spot on, and by all accounts it will be front foot football under Lampard. Chelsea fans thought Lampard was soft defensively which Tuchel focussed on immediately when he came in, but we are terrible defensively anyway(especially without Mina) even when we set up defensively so front foot football sounds good to me and good for Dom

If Alli can find form, Richarlison can be our Son and DCL our Kane - if they click hopefully they'll stay. If one goes perhaps Richarlison would be easier to replace (just put in Gray).

Yeah and hopefully Lampard has learned a bit and I think the experience on his staff helps. I'm feeling very positive.

If you don't have the best defence, then the best way to keep the ball away from your goal is by a) having the ball and b) pressing the opposition back.

That doesn't mean to play like Man City or Liverpool, but you must be aggressive in your shape and not allow teams to get into your half. Under Benitez, we just let teams come onto us.

Which lead to more corners which we were terrible at...absorbing pressure doesn't suit the likes of Keane and I'd back Pickford in a 1v1 from a break before I back him to control his area from set pieces. I'm feeling very positive too...it's been a while, nice feeling :)
