If he had slotted that penalty for instance perhaps we go on and win that game and everyone feels better about life, the clubs confidence is off the floor and the next games become easier. All players take some time to regain sharpness after a long lay off so I'm not going to beat him with a stick for it, however if he is a 1 in 2 forward (20 goals per season) he has to start finishing for us now. If he doesn't then it's harder to miss someone who has failed to deliver and therefore helped put us where we are now.

He has to recover his form, no doubt, but he has the ability and will be difficult to replace.

If we are relegated, him and Richarlison will both leave. Our forward line will be Simms and Dobbin.

If he’s fit he needs to start doing more for us. If he wants a top move this summer, go out and show he’s worth the fee. Top forwards mark their presence in games, they don’t just float through it half jumping for headers.

If these players get us relegated then I don't care if any of them leave, yes injuries and the Benitez situation haven't helped and still not helping, but we've got half a season with a new manager and hopefully we should still have 8/9 games with a fully fit (or near enough) team. If they can't pull their fingers out then they're not as good as we thought they were.

Of course if we keep scoring 4/5 and still lose then I might feel differently but they have to take their chances. Supposedly lesser players who are not paid as well can so that's the expectation. Hopefully they show their quality and we can and do pull away from the bottom.

When it’s going to hell in a hand basket the players who have not played are always the players we are missing or the reason we are dreadful.

DCL does not know what an assist looks like and we have not created in anything in the last handful of games and even if we did he’d have shinned it for a corner.

If he scores today amazing but let’s not pretend he’s above us or he’s our saviour

Him not ballooning that pen against Brighton might have helped this season a bit. Absolutely no excuse for any striker to not get a pen on target. Just casual sloppy nonsense. If the keeper saves it then fine, but missing the goal is criminal.

DCL is not too good of a player for Everton, hes not even that good ffs.

Which is why he is utterly dispensable at the right price. He is the perfect sale this summer if we stay up. But his agent will be in his ear saying he is god's gift to Arsenal or whoever. His ambition will, no doubt, exceed his talent. He will go - at the right price for us, hopefully - and fulfill his destiny as an overpaid underachiever at clubs where his limitations will soon mark him out as somebody who has proven the Peter Principle.

I think we'll see more chances under Lamaprd that we saw under Benitez. This will only benefit the likes of Calvert-Lewin.

Plenty of players miss the goal on penalties, certainly better ones then DCL have missed the target.

The best strikers in the world are only around 1 in 4 normally. Most top goalscorers tend to play for the clubs who make the most chances which makes sense really.
