Every aspect of the club currently indicates the need for a reset and longer term thinking. The position we are in, where we sit in terms of resources we have, the FFP position etc. I'm surprised and disappointed DOF's haven't gone down that route.
Im in favour of the 2 for 1 in the short term in order to finance the bigger picture.
So selling richarlison and lewen may weaken us short term but replace them with 4 players who have potential and the squad overall improves, even if it's long term.
I'm not saying I want us to sell these players, I want us to improve around our best rather than start there. Just looking at the bigger picture , if selling lewen and Richy this summer weakens our attack, it could mean we replace Delph, gbamin, peado and tosun in the squad, with maybe a new winger and striker as well if we don't just spend 25 million plus on each player.
So short term we are weaker without lewen and Richy. But the squad itself gains 4 MORE players who can come in and perform. Who can get better and improve the team, give us options off the bench and allow the likes of gray and Gordon more time to play.
Until the deadwood are replaced by players who can perform and at the very least play , it makes no odds how good individual players are. The minute they pick up an injury we don't have anyone to replace them with. Ideally we don't need to rely on lewens 20 goals a season, we need someone who can do that and someone who can replace when injured who can fill that gap.
