Don't write him off yet, the lad has done well so far this season with goals galore...

However I would like to see a meaner more ruthless side to his game where he becomes an absolute menace for the opposition...

The fact we have nobody competing for his place is something that must change fast to get the best out of him...

Competition for places makes players become aces...

It pushes you to do better...

Marcus this poetry stuff you do is just wonderful.

And you make good points about DCL here. We have spoiled the poor man here with praise saturation.

If you make a player complacent, their decline will be blatant

Depends on the ty

depends on the type of striker. A DCL type and you are right, a King type and possible. If a team can afford 2 grocks to mark DCL and the rest of the team work hard on the prevention of crosses then goals will be hard to come by. This is why we needed a different style of attacker in the transfer window so we could switch it about. Like has been mentioned Richy was a big loss for us today. Danny Ings today didn't stay with our CBs he dropped into the gap between defence and midfield and even though he didn't score he caused us so many problems. A target man like DCL cannot do what Ings did today simply because he isn't that type and is solely a target man.
Yes but you need what tacking midfield to drop into .........still even then innefective our defencive problems were at our fullbacks plus ineffective slow midfield - DCL fails to score in one game , and this tosh is posted ......Sorry but in that set up no CF would score he never even got scraps...not one decent cross....to attack .....

A bit unnecessary and aggressive this. DCL played poorly, end of.

He is a 9,a target man and he is very good at it. Given our squad when healthy, he is perfect for us. We have the likes of James, Digne, Richarlison generating chances for him.

When a team plays as poorly as our team did today, the players that suffer the most are the striker and the keeper. He had no service. He had almost nothing going his way.

Really not a game to judge him from.

Think you have totally missed the point Joey. Not having a go at DCL and he has been great this season. The point being made is that he is a target man. A target man didn't work today as he had 2 grocks on him. What we needed today was to have the ability to change tact and have a different type of striker (not a target man) to try a different approach as it was not working.

Don't think he had a shot today.

Not his fault. The service was crap and for the first time the system really didn't work at all at any point in the game.

He was hounded out by two yard dog centre-backs and we left him isolated.

We also don't have the option of throwing another forward on as we decided to let our only back-up go and not bring in another player, which was always daft.

If Richy was available today and the game was panning out the same way then I am sure Richy at some point would of either been moved alongside DCL or DCL pulled off and Richy moved forward. With him suspended we never had an option to change the way we played at the front.

Still first game he never scores the whole team were woeful you miss the point of trying to criticise him in a game where we were rubbish all over the field all 11 players not one leader out there today ......
We never even had a striking partner on the bench to change our play to help DCL tbh a long ball may have been better than that tippy tappy slow movement in our midfield.....
A bad day at the office let's hope DCL can pick our good form back up.......soon.....the league's wide open.......

the wtriker wasnt the issue, its the lack of anyone able to get close to him which killed us. Richarlison does it well, he can play wide but also get in the box and be an option. We had no one able to get forward, so DCL was completely isolated all game. Iwobi was a waste of space who stayed wide, and James never gets forward like that and again was ineffective.
The subs didnt help either, as bernard wont offer running or a final ball. Everton needed someone able to run with the ball or commit players and we really don't have that.
