Tbf if they were being told to lay out £70m for his signature, it would affect how much they were willing to pay him.

We clearly didn't ask for 70m, but it doesn't seem like any fees were agreed. I don't like Newcastle, but can understand why they would have been nervous paying a reasonable fee to be fair.

He's been linked to NUFC and MUFC as the option of last resort if all of their other interests don't come off.
