Dominic Calvert-Lewin watch

I am baffled by how much the Leeds fanbase seem to dislike him. Yes, he may not be the player they had hoped to sign, but that is not a valid reason to dislike him and does not justify those chants from their travelling fans. What has he done for them to seemingly dislike him so much? He may have scored a couple against them when playing for us, but that still does not justify their ill will towards him. Plenty of players who have scored against us have gone on to join us and enjoyed backing from our supporters. Maybe I am reading too much into it, when the reality is that Leeds have such an awful fanbase.
From reading their posts, I think the Leeds fans are annoyed because they rate DCL similarly or lower than Patrick Bamford, who earned a much lower wage, a wage which was paid by them buying tickets/merchandise.

Worth remembering who was pulling his pants down in game...

(Hint; always everyone else's fault)

Yet again your insecure faux-macho persona shines right through.

If you can't wish well on an ex-Everton player, that's fine, but it's not weird for those that can.
I think issue with DCL, is when we sold Lukaku, he was used as our main striker, when he simply is nowhere near as good as Lukaku was. He simply isn't a natural finisher, tonight showed that. DCL thinks he's better than he actually is, Beto isn't perfect but he actually seems grateful for opportunity to play for Everton and appreciates fans for support. DCL thought clubs would be queuing up for him, he was wrong, wanted to go to Arsenal or United, ends up at newly promoted Leeds.

All this feel sorry for him bollocks.

It’s seriously weird lads, sorry.

I’m grateful for the goal v palace and all that and the other good moments, but this fawning over him is proper cringey stuff.
I've got to say in recent years I've become increasingly baffled by some fans views on here. Yes DCL scored a few important goals for us, but largely he was pretty average in most games. I think there's a worrying trend where people can't differentiate between judging players performances and an active hatred or love of a player as an individual. Don't think fans should give players personal abuse, but nor should Everton fans support DCL when he's playing for another club, that's just weird. Players aren't your mates or your enemies.

Can't I have both? #greedy

Respectfully disagree.

I agree players aren’t my mates or generally my enemies, although for the latter there are a few like Pepe I make exceptions for!

However if I have liked a player for either his personality or his play style or both I can’t just switch that off when he leaves our club and act like they just don’t exist anymore. Particularly if they have had some health issues, either physical or mental, I’d like them to do well.

I’d add to this that he is not good enough to have even warranted the amount of starts he got with us. Any other PL club would have bought a replacement for Lukaku and DCL would have much less time on the field. Everton gave him opportunities and I didn’t ever really think he cared that much about us as a club, nor did he appreciate how lucky he was getting support from that club with game time etc.
