I can't think of a punishment bad enough for someone that mistreats a defenceless pup. I'm very level headed normally but it makes my blood boil!!!
To be fair his original owner didn't mistral him as such, just didn't dedicate the time to train him/socialise him/give him routine. So by the time he was a year old he was outta control.

He got in touch with the shelter who called me as I have taken 'problem' dogs in before. Took 7 months before I was OK with him to go to his new home where he's having a great time.
 
All credit to you for saving the pup. My son has just taken in his second 'rehome' ( three spaniels - he must be bonkers). The poor pup, one year old, didn't even know her name. We thought she was deaf. They were going to have her put down because she was 'untrainable' when they obviously hadn't even tried! Two weeks in, she's starting to be recalled, sits etc. Maddening thing is, these people went out and got another Springer! Angry thinking about it!!!
