Do you think this is a good thing or a bad thing?

I think it a good thing as it will cut down on players being suspended for key games.

I prefer a bit of steel in the middle. I noticed on a couple of occasions yesterday that the player were caught ball watching and leaving it to each other with nobody taking charge of loose balls. I think having that bite in the middle is needed.

That's how I saw it too......

I think we have a manager who prefers players to stay on their feet where possible. That has an upside and a downside. We might get less injuries. I will miss those crowd rising tackles that can get Goodison behind the team though.

For evidence, you can point to the Coleman/ Eto'o footrace into the box where going to ground gives the forward an excuse to dive or takes the defender out of the game if they miss the ball. Down the other end, at times I felt we could have won a breaking ball in dangerous areas by going full blooded.

...its a really interesting point and worthy thread. Equally interesting to see how this pans out over a whole season. I suppose the RM approach is more about keeping the ball than mixing it with the opposition.

Did you not see the Barkley tackle late in the game in the Chelsea half that won us possession?

Was a big tackle tbf.
