Does tonight again show a striker IS still our main priority?

looked decent again tonight i thought, inventive, chances being made, pace...but again couldn't score! could a new striker fix this or again is it moyes tactics?(saha dropping deep, working channels etc)previously i believed a creative midfielder was our main concern but after tonight i think a striker is what we should go for, with the money(if any..) we have
thoughts?

I've wanted rid of Saha for a long time now. Leaving aside his injury record I just don't think he has the desire anymore. He spends most of the game dropping deep and trying to link play outside the box as we whip ball after ball into nobody. He should be breaking his neck to get on the end of balls and score.

Not for me mate.

I just don't think enough players were getting into the box. So often I saw good crosses delivered with no one around.

I realise a top striker would get into those positions, but I'm referring to the quantity of players. You don't see Robin Van Persie as the only man in the box for Arsenal -- he has support. I think it's a tactical thing. Maybe Moyes doesn't want too many people getting forward in case we're stung on the counter.

It's a crying shame as some of our delivery and build up play tonight was absolutely sublime. We do need a top striker, for sure, but there are plenty of improvements that can be made that will not cost a penny.

A central creative player. I'd say a winger but we do have Drenthe and will have LD for a short period of time. We're devoid of a playmaker and it shows.

i think straqularsi could come good, i just hope he has enough time. it took tevez 18 some games to really adjust, straq should at least get a full 90 (today would have been good for that_

i also think mcaleny and velios both have a ton of potential and can do a good job up front. i would love a new striker but i don't see it happening, and I don't think its a necessity, since with our style of play the striker plays sort of as an advanced midfielder anyways.

i thought ossie had an excellent game behind the striker, and fellaini was spectacular for buildup play

Always said it - Ossie just needs to put on a stone in weight and he'll be our Zidane...

A bag of chips and 2 pints of guinness for Ossie every night should see him come good - **** all this sports science ****e

I agree there aren't enough players getting forward, so for me, it is another striking option and Moyes being a bit braver and either commiting more support from the midfield of developing a striker partnership. Heaven forbid!

Straq made me laugh tonight, he was clearly shattered after his charge on goal late on. Looked like he'd been smoking his way through a box of John Player Specials before he'd climbed off the bench...

We need a new striker, but this covers up the fact Moyes gets his tactics wrong time and time again. Far too negative at times, with our lone striker far too often finding himself isolated.

Assuming we keep the same tactics then a creative midfielder is the most crucial thing we need, I should clarify.

If all of a sudden Moyes was going to deploy 2 strikers, be more positive or even say to his lone frontman: "Sod all the legwork, get in the bloody box", then I'd probably want a top striker more.
