Player Valuation: £70m
I was thinking that with the best and worst player threads what about the ones we almost had but were lucky to not get.

There have been many players that we have 'almost' signed that have gone on to do absolutely nothing.

Ill start:

Ian Woan

He had a great season at Forest and we reportedly put a 5m bid in for a player who could play left side or central midfield. He scored some absolute beauties with that left foot and I remember one he got against us that flew in. After the bid was rejected he suffered from loss of form and injuries and faded well and truly into the background.

Fabrizio Ravenelli

Was no doubt a great goal scorer on his day but a bad attitude and the biggest mercenary if ever I saw one. Howard Kendall agreed a 7m fee with Boro only for th eplayer to turn his back on us. Pheeewww!!!

Momo Sissoko

We agreed a joint fee for sicko and his valencia team mate only for the [Poor language removed] to come in with a last minute bid to take him away from us. I dont know about you but I just dont rate him- hes crap. Lapses of concentration and can he pass more than 3 yards??!

Can you think of any others??

* Not to say that with superior Everton coaching these players would go on to be world beaters with us.

Not so sure I agree with you about Ravanelli, he was a great little player and we could have done with him at the time.

But I totally agree with you about Sissoko. Physically he looks like the player we needed in the midfield, but after seeing him play now the description I'd give him is: Clumsy.

Barry Ferguson, that was a farily big price we were gonna pay at the time. Michael Owen, we cant afford to spend £11M for a injured player, no matter how good he is when he plays. Robbie Savage, always great for Wales, but useless in the premiership. Lee Trundle, if rumours were to be believed.

Kuyt - a) hasn't done as well as predicted, b) that tackle

Manny - distinct lack of loyalty to the club.

Forsell - a) crap, b) always injured.

Barton - utter poo head

Do you mean Muller? Also around that era there was Chris Armstrong and Dean Holdsworth, both around the £5M mark which is probably todays equivalent of £15M+. No explanation needed why either would have been a massive wast of money.

I remember the armstrong attempt he just disappeared didn,t he a close escape there.
Forsell cos he is injury prone and savage cos he,s a bird and [Poor language removed].
I remember about 2 or 3 years ago joe royle begging us to take darren bent at something like 3 million but we didn,t want to know

I will be forever grateful to the footballing gods that we have never signed Robbie Savage.

I never hate any Everton player, or even dislike them. I just can't imagine ever not vomitting every time I were to see Savage pull on the blue shirt.

Nugent looks to have been a close call, but I think that was pretty obvious to everyone except fat Harry.

Next time if time if Joe royle tells us to do something, WE DO IT.

Stan Collymore

At the time I was gutted when we missed out on Stan the man- he never quite rediscovered his forest form at the [Poor language removed] and then Villa. Poor attitude and a wife beater. Nice.

Emre

Not done much and a racist- not at my club thanks.

Georgi Kinkaldze...I think I've spelt it right. bags of skill whilst at Derby......then put on a ton of weight and went [Poor language removed].

Kinkladze. My mrs - the manc blue - still talks about him in dreamy tones. He was a bit [Poor language removed] though to be honest.

That Tuncli or whatever that the pointy Southgate recently signed at Boro. Was a bit gutted we missed out on him......not too arsed about it now though.
