there's a warning on sainsburys organic carrots would you believe?!

WTF!....That will be related to packaging and transport...

Looks like it's the good life for you....get an allotment and grow your own, as least you get some control back in your life. In fact thats the way we should all go...everyone should be allocated a plot of land to grow your own veg, and keep chickens...

I was told a few years back that if there's less than a certain amount of an ingredient in a product they do not legally have to list it at all. Normal Lion bars contain peanuts, it doesn't (or didn't until recently, if it does now) even mention peanuts on the packaging. I had a nasty reaction when i was about 9 after eating one. Luckily the piriton was on hand and emergency averted!

The law changed a couple of years ago, they gave a period for stuff to be shifted due to long shelf life etc but nowadays All ingredients are supposed to be listed, and in the case of supermarket bakeries they are supposed to have ingredient listings to hand, had a few run ins in those depts when they haven't been, and they have said that they haven't got them (not just mislaid... not got) as I have pointed out that legally they aren't allowed to sell them and have to remove them from sale. A manager in a Preston supermarket got really shitty and challenged me to call trading standards, I promptly went to see the supermarket manager who gave him a dressing down in the store and made him personally remove the goods. I was gonna trip him up as he went past with them in his arms but thought that may be going a bit too far. He was fuming but I just gave him my best 'don't piss me off lid' look, or as Paddington would say "a cold hard stare."

We bought an Easter egg with Dairy Free on the packaging from there, then noticed in the ingredients that milk was listed.
Telephone call made promptly, we got a refund and a whopping big dark choc egg as a replacement, it could have cost them far more than that though in reality.

I'm quite lucky in the sense that, even though i avoid all nuts, its only peanuts that i'm severely allergic to. Therefore may contain traces of nuts i'm usually alright with, its may contain traces of peanut i can't touch. Because i've had it all my life i know what i can and can't eat. e.g i can't eat any chocolate bar made by mars, but cadbury's don't use peanuts at all meaning i can eat their products. Usually stick to kinnerton though - they have separate factories, one is totally nut free, so there is no risk of cross contamination. As for fruit and veg, i don't buy organic so i'm safe ;) lol

As for instore bakery reids, i avoid it all, its too risky

Actually, the in-store bakery ins Asda is ok. I went to the factory last year, and it is a meat and nut free zone (if ANYONE puts an innuendo in here, i'm going to kick your arses!). So you're ok on that front! ;) x

emails screenshot to Mrs BOG! Out of interest vic, what do your uni mates call you? I'm blagged by the multiple name thing, its too much for my blonde head to take!

ROFL! Love it Hayee! To be fair, its pretty much "vicky" all the time, but i get called both!

Its easier having a fake name as a teacher, I had 20 kids tell me "miss, we've tried to add you on facebook and you're not on there!" Yesterday alone. hence, why its the best idea (y) lol. but, stick with Vic etc and ya cant go wrong! ;) haha. x
