Do you feel old?

For me, one of the most important things is never getting too comfortable with my interests and always look for more (music, film, art) and pushing myself more too (running). My gf is the same too

I think it's really easy to get comfortable, especially when you have kids, and just give up on your hobbies, and then have a passing interest in everything which ages you

I have some friends like that, who are like 'why so you still listen to techno when you don't go clubbing' and then they talk about pensions in brown shoes and sound mid 50's, and the other mates who used to DJ a lot in the 00's, who are 5 years or so older than me and we all probably look/sound 5-10 years younger than we are

Most of the team I manage are younger than me too, and the only person who isn't (in his 50's) knows everything you can imagine about graffiti and 80's NYC street culture lol

I often do but then i encounter a Gen X or Boomer who believe all music stopped being good at the exact same time they started balding, at which point I feel young again. I figure i've got another decade at least before I start veering into the 'everything is crap and was better back in my day' stage.

We're all bound to do this, right? My old man thinks nothing good came after New Wave (by the 90s he was listening to the Lighthouse Family and Simply Red ffs. In his bloody 30s!)

I've deffo stopped listening to any 'new' music. Discovered Kendrik Lamar's Good Kid Maaad City a month or so ago and thought i was bang up to date. 13 years old that album. Such a codger.

Exactly why my post ended up like a circle, after being so active in life, even carrying big hurdles, to than get hit by more hurdles that you hit a stumbling block, it than inturn plays massively on your mental state, your mental state is than a big hurdle in your life.

To me, I haven't found the answer.

Sunshine makes me feel more younger as it puts a smile on my face.

Winter, the opposite.

Not being able to do what I loved in life, active wise. Is a knockout.

I also bottle everything up, which isnt healthy, but I always have.

So no, I cant answer it Mate.

Just hope you lot are all well and good.
Re your “ Sunshine” and winter the opposite comments, I’m a great believer in “ sunshine in your eyes “ as an all round thing to help with ageing amongst other things. So I run in the sunshine, walk in the sunshine whenever I can and take a Vitamin D tablet every day. I believe they help, who knows, at worst I pee out a penny or two per day of Vitamin D I don’t need.

I swear to God if I ever start sounding like that I hope someone puts me out of my misery.

I'm 50 next year and I'm starting to feel it tbh, but those type of people do my head in. They've given up on life and there's nothing but bitterness in their future.

My dad got his "pipe and slippers" early. I mean, I love the man, but I'm determined not to follow in his footsteps.
Mine's the opposite.
Was 77 in September and is still, by choice, up and out at 3am working. Told us 15yrs ago he was gonna start taking it easy soon, still goes in 6 days a week to check everything's OK and his customers are being looked after.
While he can, he will is his answer.

Hope I've still got his energy if I make it that far 😂
