67 not out, couldn't care less about old, some people are old before their time, some can't wait to be old,as long as there's my partner, music beer books movies and EFC I'll feel old later on!
Exactly why my post ended up like a circle, after being so active in life, even carrying big hurdles, to than get hit by more hurdles that you hit a stumbling block, it than inturn plays massively on your mental state, your mental state is than a big hurdle in your life.
To me, I haven't found the answer.
Sunshine makes me feel more younger as it puts a smile on my face.
Winter, the opposite.
Not being able to do what I loved in life, active wise. Is a knockout.
I also bottle everything up, which isnt healthy, but I always have.
So no, I cant answer it Mate.
Just hope you lot are all well and good.
I'm a similar age and still play twice a week. Love it.48 now, but don’t feel very different than say when I arrived in Barcelona at 33. Still like a good night out and still play football twice a week. Won a 5s tournament on Saturday and went on the lash for the night.
I do regret not being more sensible with money. Have finally got on the property ladder in the last month and moved in this week. Feels very late for signing up to such a large debt for so long, but definitely happy paying a mortgage today rather than rent. Have to give all credit to my wife for the kick up the arse I needed.
I agree that the right mentality is important. I’m a glass half full person for sure and I don’t often think on or dwell too much on aging. Lucky enough to have stayed healthy so far. (Apart from a fractured big toe just now!)
I did consider leaving the w off...*biting lip*
Not one thats blessed with enough. If you love sunshine, which exotic location are you in?
Interesting concept from OP.I'm just sat here swigging a beer, I'm in my late 30s now but still don't realise how old this actually is and despite no longer hanging out with ladies of the night with gay abandon, I still consider myself young, and every bit of spare cash I have goes towards travel instead of doing something much more sensible like buying a house. What's the point in buying a house when I could wake up dead tomorrow, with nobody to give it to I ask myself. I attribute a large part of this to my uncle and aunty who did everything right, but each sadly passed away within a couple of years of retirement.
Embrace it mate.Being old means avoiding, whenever possible, looking at mirrors.
5 Months 30 days till I can retire, I can't wait!!In a couple of days I reach State Pension age. Much like @Eggs I leave the car at home as much as I can and walk. I have never run, nor been to a gym, but with the walking (and hiking), golf, and gardening I feel fitter in my 60s than I was in my 40s and 50s. Must admit going to the pub every night pre-covid was probably not a good thing in hindsight. Now most of my drinking is at home, and a lot less consumed. Swore a few years ago that I would have 3 holidays every year but covid put an end to that, but still had 2 each year since. Thankfully 2026 getting back on track as 3 hols booked - one to an old favourite Tenerife, but the other two to pastures new in Albania and Kerala(India). Overall consider myself fortunate, I feel reasonably healthy and need to keep managing my diabetes to try to avoid the problems that can cause.
