Do we really need that much?

One of our biggest strengths under David Moyes was our stability, unfortunately because we couldn't afford ANYONE. We had to make do and actually IMPROVE the players we actually had. So no, we don't need a lot. We need someone of the left-wing to balance us out, and backup for Baines. But keeping the squad together, would make the team stronger. Tearing it up and starting from scratch, would be the wrong thing to do.

Depends what we want doesn't it? If we are happy to go for 7th, possibly pinch 6th spot then we don't need much at all. The absence of European football and a full season to bed in the squad and we will see improvements next year, especially if we can get a coach that isn't so awful. Especially as players like Kenny, Baningme, DCL and even Davies will have benefited from an extra year under their belts. Plus Seamus, Bolassie and Funes Mori will hopefully be fully fit and raring to go by September.

The challenge comes if we want to challenge for higher spots than that. You've seen with Liverpool this year how having a truly world class player lifts the whole squad (as it did when they had Suarez). We've really missed Lukaku in that sense and whilst Tosun has done admirably, he's probably never going to get to that level, and the young lad from Belgium has to be regarded as an unknown quantity.

We can't attract world class this summer no matter how much money we might have.

No, we would need to get players before they became world class. We wouldn't get Lukaku (or Stones) now, but we did a few years ago. Liverpool are a bit further along but largely in the same boat. Neither Suarez or Salah were world class when they were bought.

If it’s youth you want Zats the man for that
