Do We Need A New Stadium?

We need a new stadium but only becuase the ground is old. You win in England with a shiek or Russian oil mafioso. Not with a new stadium. In 10-15 years the money rolling in from TV revenue will make the extra 10K seats that your new stadium has look like spare change.

Rubbish that.

10k extra seats at a conservative estimate of £20 a game = £3.8m

TV Revenue will obviously increase, but so will the costs of everything else. Ticket sales will always be an important factor in the financial stability of a football club.

After you pay the mortgage you think that you'll be making 3.8M/game? You also have to sell those seats too. A new stadium will help insure that if everton ever go down they'll have the revenues to get back up quickly but it won't make us top 4. What happens is that the other teams just start outspending you. Having 10-15M/year more in spending power than say Sunderland isn't going to help much against clubs who could field a B team worth around 100M+ in transfer fees.

We don't sell out the seats we do have, and I'm not including obstructed view seats either.

Thats not true mate.

Speaking as somebody who goes to Goodison every week, its always pretty full and only the seats that are obstructed appear empty.

I go every week and we DONT sell out....not even close!!!!! maybe for man u and the RS! no-one else

Mate, you missed my point. It doesn't matter WHERE the money goes, the fact is that the £3.8m (it would likely be much more) makes a difference, and will continue to make a difference for years to come. As tv rights increase, so will ticket prices, and so will the costs associated with maintaining a premier league club. Dismissing the importance of seating as a revenue stream is madness.

Oh yeah we're pretty full like. What I was meaning is, we're not 100% full (excluding the obstructed ones). If we're even 50 short of selling out, that means we'd be 10,050 short of selling out if we added on 10k of seats. That's my illogical brain at work anyways.

But if those 10k extra seats (and the 50 mentioned) didn't have obstructed views..... I've no idea really.

I'm on Team Brennan Here.

Upwards and Onwards!

And on this pages point... everytime a new shopping centre gets built, it hardly sits there empty. Its Chockers full, so where did all these people come from?

IF YOU BUILD IT, THEY WILL COME.

People love new stuff.

Aye I had thought of that too, but it's a gamble though isn't it, and if the product being sold is gash, like our footy 75% of the time, then people may shop elsewhere.

We have to go 'Global', I've always said this since the birth of GOT.

Nike Shirts are one thing, a positive step, and our style of Footy since Christmas has been electric, but not being called the Namesake of the City we came from (No one else in the League has this except us- correct me if I'm wrong) could clearly define us as a Global brand.

But we need an epic Stadium to do this. Imagine us to being the first choice, best Football Stadium in Britain! A purpose built football shrine!

I think we should dream again about being one of the Top football Stadiums in the World, and not bogged down moaning about this and that. Just my 5 cents, and if i was Bill Gates, you'd better believe it'd be my first act as Supreme Commander.
