Do we have a striker problem

At the risk of using evidence in this discussion may I remind people that we've scored half a dozen more goals this season than Birmingham, that team currently lying in 7th spot in the table. Far be it from me to labour my earlier point but we don't have a problem scoring goals, we have a problem conceding them. We're missing our the guts of our defence from last season (Jags, Lescott, Neville). That's why we're low down the table.

Fellaini got 8 in 27 last season. Now he's got just 1 in 16. Likewise, Cahill got 8 in 30 compared to 2 in 16 this year. We generally play with just one striker and that one striker (Saha) has scored nearly a goal a game this season. How on earth we can therefore have a striker problem is beyond me.

Agree with this, in fact I now get scared when the opposition enter our half of the pitch, let alone get a set piece around the box.

I wouldnt mind seeing us sign Chris Eagles, he has quality in abundance and is the type of player to create who could pay in midfeild and up front - his performences of late have cleared up the lingering doubht i had about his ability to do it in the Prem.

Aren't some of you looking at the words 'striker problem' a bit one dimentionally?

For me, the striker problem is not having quality in depth, and not having long term stability in that department.

Yakubu will leave for the African Nations soon.
Jo is not an Everton player, and unlikely to get a contract based on performances.
Saha isn't getting any younger, and can talk to other clubs in January.
Vaughan is a sick room regular.
Anichebe has big problems with his injury.
Aggard and Baxter aren't getting played enough to gain experience.

If that isn't a striker problem, I don't know what is.

We've scored 23 goals in the league this season, Saha has scored TEN of them. That's nearly half of our goals coming out of one player. The only other players who have scored more than one goal are Bily (3) and Cahill (2). This is a serious fecking problem, because if Saha doesn't turn up we are screwed. We clearly have a striker problem if only one of our strikers has scored more than 1 goal this season.
