Do fans actually want to enjoy football anymore?

Chelski's financial hi-jinks combined with the 115 charges and our points deduction from a couple of years back seems to have stirred the pot again and led to the usual accusations of the PL hating Everton and being totally determined to send the club into oblivion.

Of course it's not something unique to Evertonians or indeed a part of the make-up of all Evertonians and if you hopped around the various fansites and social media you'd see pretty much every club having a section of fans who have the same view. They're all out to get us etc etc.

It strikes me as the usual fan bias where their club is innocent and unjustly or harshly punished while every other club is getting away with murder and should have the book threw at them. The hysterical persecution complex that a large section of every club's fans have combined with the constant media and clickbait that does more harm than any number of perceived incorrect decisions.

Seems like a huge number of football fans are determined not to enjoy football anymore and instead look to be offended and victimised by the soap opera around it. For every single moment that could be admired, celebrated or simply blown away by they instead look to be outraged by trivialities blown out of proportion or denounce decisions that they don't actually know the details of.

What say you GOT?

Numb to it.

Was so predictable to see how it would play out. I wasn't alone in saying it prior the point deductions- joking it would be akin to Niasse punishment for diving.

Super League put independent regulation on the agenda, the cartel couldn't accept that so used the convenient whipping boys Everton to push against it. No coincidence the charge/punishment announcement was expedited to just before Masters spoke at parliamentary hearing.

The lack of accepted mitigation, and appetite for sporting sanction and BS around you cant fine clubs just months after super league made it all too obvious.

Never forget though that Everton did their nice guys finish last act- we thanked them. Compare that to Man City, Chelsea and Forest.

the afcon shambles.
the tycoon of terrorism launching a war against iran whilst simultaneously protesting his peace prize credentials and expelling a team from a world cup he is co-hosting.
the colossal debt of man utd and their eyes firmly on the public purse for a new stadium.
how the fa have repeatedly treated sheff weds.

Tired, tired, tired!

A relatively modern phenomena known as 'Davekian syndrome' :coffee:

Agree with all of the above
and I would even take it as far as the new generation of fans (not all)
but football chat with this younger generation, god knows what it is, but it certainly isn't flowing, appealing conversation..

Has Football garnered a new massive "FOMO" fanbase..

The greatest simple luxury has been flooded with tasteless ingredients..

If it wasn't for Everton I probably wouldn't watch football at all...and it didn't used to be like that
Everything about football now is seemingly designed to suck the blood out of the fans and part them from as much of their hard earned cash as it can. The whole industry - for that's what it is - is corrupt from top down. And we, as Evertonians, know this only too well.

It's a continuation of daily life, today, into what was once an escape from daily life.

Cricket is heading the same way as football - even New Zealand got slagged off on social media (and on here) before we played them in the recent T20 WC. It's New Zealand ffs, what's to hate!? Absolute fear of not winning - and then we won and all of a sudden what a great game it was!

Even the orange faced turnip (no not Trump, the one on here) posted a hateful message on here about 'the English' when France beat England at egg chasing last week to win the Six Nations. Forget the brilliant game it was and tournament overall.

The importance of supporting a football team at the highest level, though, is now so far removed from what it's actually meant to be it's gone somewhere from which there is little chance of return.

Dunno sounds silly but seeing managers waving their arms to gee up the fans and generate ‘atmosphere’ boils my piss.

Lad, some of the players earn more in a day than match goers do in a year and we’re the ones tasked with motivating the team? Get to fk!
