Im actually suprised there isnt a video referee. Surely games of this magnetude desrve it?
Theres enough money floating around? Every game is covered in every angle?
They pay a bloke to stand on the sideline, what does he do other than chat to the managers and hold up the injury time minutes sign.
Sit him in front of a monitor, hook him up to a ref and the director of the TV feed, and Bobs your uncle.
Its absolutley crazy that it hasnt happened so far.
And what youll also find it will eliminate the need for linesmen.
Somene should really champion this. They do it Rugby League, and youll be hard pressed to find a bad decision in a critical area.
Kuyt would have been sent off, and the first penalty would have been given when Carragher was all over Lescott and grabbed him by the neck.
Wether the contact occured inside or outside the box would have been studied, and I dont think it should have been a penatly, but Im afraid I would have sent Hibbert, even though my gut reaction as an Evertonian is the opposite. The penalty changed the game, but I also believe that in the Neville situation, it should have been awarded a goal without the pen. Thats a rule change, but its happened to my team before and the dude missed the penalty. It is cheating, a complete gut reaction, but come on.
The other thing highlighted by the game, was the pure unsportsmanship by a highly paid professional. Jamie Carragher was a real embarrasment to his club and his country by the way he carried on. You cannot talk to officials like this, and if I was his Boss, I would have roasted him.
Just shows the Onion has no respect witin his own camp, which is why he's had to bring in millions of dollars of his countrymen.
Your right about the [Poor language removed], losing Owen was a massive nail in their hometown credentials, and has me thinking about moving out of our home just yet...the [Poor language removed] might just beat us to it and screw themselves.
Oh well, my thoughts.
Its been a tough week.
