Distin's future replacement?

..our transfer approach will always be about priorities and I suspect centre back will not be that this summer. The indication is that we also have a rising star yet to make his debut, so any monies spent will be elsewhere.

Please no. He's terrible. I wouldn't mind Lescott returning though barring he accepts a significant wage reduction to 50k.
He's not really, how much you actually watched him? Be honest. He's quick strong like a bull, and surprisingly cheap, would be great cover. And let him boss EL

I watch quite a lot of Bundesliga and read transfermarkt.de forums. The Schalke fans are less than satisfied with Santana. He started the season badly, he only plays a bit part role now, late substitution and sorts. He couldn't overcome the backup role in Dortmund for years, he was never a significant first team player and neither is he at Schalke, a team not particularly famous of its defenders. Whenever he had the chance to play in the first team for a lengthy period, he was unconvincing. I simply don't rate him highly and I don't think lots of you guys would be happy with him either. Believe me, Distin is so much better than him. He would even beat him in a running contest despite his age. Santana's 28 already, so I don't see him improving much anymore, he's way too inconsistent and often makes the mistakes. If I have a look at his ratings, his average is 3.8 (on a German scale: 1 is the best, 6 is the worst). That's pretty much what he would be in my eye, a subpar solution. I'd choose Lescott all day ahead of him.

Yeah but lescott's wages will be ridiculous and he will be much more expensive

Then we need to look for someone else. If there's anyone better out there then it's fine by me. We might not buy a defender this summer, or maybe Roberto brings Rodwell back as a potential makeshift defender and CM, I'm not sure. I don't see into Roberto's mind, but if he will take Europe seriously - and from what he's been saying, he will - we need some extra legs, another 5-6 players and in terms of CBs currently we have a virtually always injured Alcaraz, a 36-year-old Distin (our best), Jags and the 19-year-old Stones. Sounds a bit thin to me, I hope that Roberto gets us someone decent and preferably young.

saying that distin will go on for another 100000 years so we dont need to worry about it, stones , browning and even duffy when distins injured.
