I just got done with spending 8 days in a cardiac unit with my dad now I'm in another state trying to get through this.

They like to laugh at us because we pay for healthcare, but your mom is getting the most skilled care out there. It's amazing what they can do now. Chin up.

I know the anxiety you're feeling, but your mum will be in the hands of experts. My mums surgery went through fine and she was home in a few days.

I think I’m screwed and about to lose my job. I somehow managed to lose my bag with my work laptop in it. I think I left it on a bus in the Seven Sisters area, but it could also have been lost on the Victoria line between Seven Sisters and Finsbury Park.

I spoke to the steward people at both Finsbury Park and Seven Sisters; they checked but said there is no record of it being handed in. I’ve filled in the lost property form on the TFL website, telling them what bus I was on etc.

Does anyone have any advice on how I can possibly re-acquire the laptop?

Losing it will mean the end of my job for sure! I guess I’ll just have to deal with it, but I could really do without such BS, and God only knows how long my unemployment will last?

Put it on every social media site you possibly can mate, maybe with mention of the loss of your job if it`s not returned and a small reward ?

Is there any chance to retrace your steps and find out where the bus terminal is and ask the office staff there to see if they can find anything on the CCTV, as most buses have CCTV for the protection of the drivers and to provide evidence of disorder etc ?

There`s always the possibility that it was stolen by way of a sneak theft, which is completely different than you losing it.

With regards to the bus CCTV, it won’t be that hard to check :

Roughly what time and where did you get on the bus.

Roughly what time and where did you get off the bus.

That narrows it down massively.

Sneak thefts and pickpocketing etc are rampant on all forms of public transport in London mate, it’s endemic.

My advice would be to report it stolen right away, as the chances are it has been.

Get the crime number off the police as proof that you’ve reported it for work.

Don’t lie to work. Tell them that you “ believe “ it was stolen by means of a sneak theft on the bus - “ it was there and then it wasn’t “ and that you’ve reported it to the police ( this is where the crime number comes in )

You’re taking the day off to go to the bus depot, to ask for the cctv to be looked at, as the police are highly unlikely to do this, due to manpower etc.

Mention that you’ve put it all over social media, with mention of a reward.

This will show that you’re going above and beyond to try and retrieve it and hopefully mitigate its loss

I imagine the laptop is encrypted and protected to the balls so nobody can get access to it.

I’m on a locum contract, so they will definitely bin me off if they want to, and there will be no come back for them.

Having said that, what if I actually WAS a victim of crime? I’m pretty sure this happened in the Tottenham area, which has a reputation as a bit of a crime hotspot, so who knows

I’ve just reported it to British Transport Police. I got a reference number, but I don’t think it’s quite a CAD number. I’ll look into it a bit more this evening.

Have you asked the coppers to view the cctv?

It happened at about 16:45 this afternoon. I mentioned it to the TFL staff straight away, but I only reported it to the British Transport Police via their website in the past half hour.

I’m not very hopeful. I’m not sure I’ve even filled in the Transport Police’s form correctly. In the form, I said I think it happened on the Tube, but in reality I think I just left it on the 476 bus.

It’s a right old mess
