Disallowed Goal

They're both as bad as each other. Webb could have overruled him, if he knew the rules. The issue has been brought up recently with the RS.

Webb disallowed the goal for offside. The rules are you can't be offside directly from a corner. Jagielka wasn't offside but Vic was when Jagielka headed it.

Its completely different from the Kuyt one for the RS. The issue there was not the same, as the debate was whether Kuyt himself was offside when he scored, which obviously wasn't the case.

Blah!

Now we can argue whether Anichebe was interfering with play.

HE DIDNT TOUCH HIM!!

Nah.

It was a very poor call all the way around. Can't be offside from a corner period.

Anichebe cannot be offside when Jags shoots (heads) towards goal as:

1) The ball isn't intended for him and

2) He doesn't make a play for the ball.

Bad bad call.

reminds me of a certain evening in Villareal when big dunc gave em the boof cake.

more to the point. Rory Delap...what a miss...cracker mate....stick to taking throw ins and using towels.....hahahahah..

COYBB!!!!

The rules do state that a player can't be offside when recieving the ball 'directly' from a corner. I suppose they could use that angle to argue their way out of it. It does always seem to be us that they assert the letter of the law with though. Like when Johnson was penalised at Blackburn for being offside because there weren't two men between him and the goal.

Yeah that was a headf**k and a half. I took 45 minutes explaining it to my mate and he still didn't get it.

I've just checked the rules and you definitely can't be offside from a corner.

It makes a mug of Howard Webb giving that as his explanation for disallowing Jagielka's 'goal' today on MOTD. Not that we deserved three points.

Well you can be offside if the ball goes forward. So if the ball is on the left side of the quadrant, as Arteta kicks it, and Anichebe is on the goal line like he was, and the ball goes slightly forward then technically he is offside. However in this case that wasn't the situation, so what has clearly happened is that the linesman has thought Anichebe has got a touch and is therefore offside.

But this is Howard Webb and his weird decisions against Everton.

But lets not cry about it, we lost Europe at the start of the season, not today.
