Differences between Everton and Spurs

Better find differences between Leicester, West Ham, Watford, Crystal palace...it all boils to one....the coach

They spend loads of money, just going back a few seasons: 2012/13, £61.5m
2013/14, £103.7m
2014/15, £28m
2015/16, £53.5m

yup but isnt that ignoring how much they have raked in with players mate?

15/16, 50m
14/15, 50m
13/14, 100m
figures are rough

Spurs over the past 3 years have a net spend less than most if not everyone in the league

Yeah know in Levy they have someone who is boss at making sure he gets top buck back for their players, but at the end of the day he will back his managers by investing that money back on bringing players in.

to be fair we tend to as well of late, in the league we are probably the two teams that has been best at getting returns for pretty average players

And quite honestly, I'm taking Alli over Barkley right now.

Well yeh on current form. I think Barkley (being older and more experienced) but Alli is clearly an excellent player.

I think the main difference is Alli is playing without fear in his play and a lot of confidence - a lot like Barkley in his first season.

I think the goalkeeper and Erikson (maybe Ali also) are the areas Tottingham are stronger than us consistently, they seem pretty quick to change the manager if results arnt going to plan, usually I would argue that continuity is the best plan moving forward but looking at results and ability to adapt I'm not so confidant in sticking with the current manager. I know spurs fans who seem to think anything other than top 4 is a bad season.

A good comparison really. Both teams with young Spanish managers, both giving young players a chance, yet at present the results vary. For me;

1) Spurs built on more solid foundations. They have put hard work, solidity and consistency centrally to what they are trying to do.

2) Experienced and better in defensive. Lloris, Vertongen & Aldeveireld are a cut above what we have. That to me is the key difference between the teams. Outside of Stones nobody in our squad you would be in the same league as them, Lloris is so far ahead it's untrue. That gets them out of trouble in games and gives them a base to work from. Aside from that there is little to choose between the teams.

3) A more rounded squad. I look at our squad team and we seem overloaded in some areas and a bit short in others. I don't think injuries help but it can't just be that. Spurs squad is more rounded and it's difficult to see any areas of weakness.

Lloris versus Howard, I give you that. But no way is Alderweireld and Vertonghen a cut above Jags and Stones.
Under Martinez, we'd conceed shed loads of goals no matter what personnell would be there!

In honesty I think Vertongen & Alderweireld are in their prime and playing a lot better. Jags 3 years ago was on a similar level. Stones before the transfer stuff messed his head up was, and will go into to be even better. But right now those two are better defenders. As a back 3 they are streets ahead of us now in that area.

Everywhere else on the pitch we are competitive.

Good post.

Alderweireld and Vertonghen are the best CB pairing this year by far. Great balance and understanding, good technically and both letting nothing past them.
