AfD are the main opposition in German parliament. They had a member vote asking if their priority as opposition should be to push for a peoples' vote on Dexit (Deutschland EU exit).

The ayes have it. The game is on.

If the vote happens, how would you like the vote to go and why?

If they leave the EU then there is no EU. It will default back to just having a common market. Everyone wins.

They'll campaign if their demands for EU reform are not met.

They'll get their demands.

no chance...AfD are painted as the anti-christ here, and they say one shouldn't do deals with the devil. EU Reform if it happens will never be presented in connection with AfD demands. Brexit would have to be proven beneficial to the UK first (which it may well turn out to be but it won't be painted as such).

Things will get interesting...i'm betting on the establishment ignoring AfD other than doubling-down on the negative media against them, thereby hoping they won't gain anymore in elections.

They deffo would never allow a peoples' vote on Dexit (as ze germans say, that will cause a leak in one's trousers), and no party wants them in a coalition, so AfD would have to make CDU-like percentages to make Dexit policy. Not likely.

They've opened up a can of worms but for now everyone's waiting to see what happens to UK with Brexit first.

Interestingly, whether Brexit is good or bad for the UK is in both cases a self-fulfilling prophecy (it is what you make it). UK benefitting could mean down the line the end of the EU as we know it, or at least with the kind of reforms that do away with compromised unelected european presidents.

Makes it understandable those with vested interests ensuring a stream of constant confusion and angst. It seems to me those in charge don't want EU reform. AfD as shitstirrers-in-chief understand this much.

Can’t see how it would make much sense for them, as they are the dominant nation and have been the main beneficiary of the Euro - the cheap exchange rate powering German exports these past 20 years.

Side note - was watching a Brexit discussion on German telly last night and the AfD fella - despite them being painted as dangerous hard-right “populists” - was actually just some amiable old buffer in tweeds.

'tis often the case that...it's almost as if the media have an agenda.

As we know from the Trump & Brexit elections, demonising one's political opponent by calling them bad names strengthens their support. That BBC article is 2 years old. Since then AfD's support has significantly increased (hence Dexit is now a feasible idea).

Das Volk want learned debate about the issues. They want specifics. Deflecting by name-calling isn't working, clearly.
