well I'm hoping Martinez goes for it, and selects the same team that started against Wolfsburg....

meaning McGeady starting....no way i want Oviedo starting, he's simply not ready for the pace of a derby....

Liverpool's backline is still poor, and if Martinez is brave enough to have a go and pick an attacking line up i don't see why we can't have alot of joy there....i know we've not set the world alight this season yet, but Liverpool were poor at home to villa and lucky as hell against that Bulgarian team....

whatever about Sturridge (who i expect to start).....was abit surprised Rodgers played Sterling for 120 minutes on Tuesday night....shouldn't matter this early in the season, but you hear managers waffle on about recovery time so much these days (Rodgers was resting sterling in a league game only a few weeks ago)...

Get him to man mark him. He put Messi in his back pocket, I'm sure he can do the same to a player half his quality.

I'm sure tactically it would be a terrible idea but the idea of setting Besic loose on the pitch with his ONLY instruction being 'don't let Gerrard do anything, ever' fills me with glee.

With Barkley missing, Pienaar not 100% fit, and history telling us that Osman is too lightweight for these sort of encounters, who else do we have that can do a job in the hole. Perhaps we can let Besic wreak havoc in a more advanced position. We know Naismith will do a lot of work dropping in but if we can relieve him of some of those duties, maybe he will have more energy in attacking positions. 1. We know Besic likes a shot (although his shooting was pretty awful in midweek) 2. He is composed on the ball and does have some trickery in his locker 3. He has good energy and should last at least 70 minutes 4. It is something they won't expect. Just a thought.

Depends on the kid, as you say some can be nerveless and might even consider it for a home derby if we had injury problems.

But Anfield is like kryptonite to our players, even those who you would think would be immune. Barry has over 500 appearances to his name including Manchester derbys and World Cups - his worst game in an Everton shirt by far was last year at Anfield.

I take your point & I can see your concerns, and not just Anfield but any major ground has been kryptonite - not just to our kids but many of the players (yes, Barry) - for whatever reasons. R M, like Catterick, doesn't seem to deal in the "Oooh, it's all too much for us" stuff and I'd have no fears about a young player making his debut, though of course I want Seamus to play (a real Everton player if there ever was one).

Players like Barry, Distin etc are (and I know I'm repeating myself) often more at risk of garbage performances in matches like this: seasoned pros who've been there and know the way the world works and who go on the pitch not expecting to win. I think, you're actually making my point for me.

Any road up, we're getting three points from this match and I've got a seat on the Kop. Pleased with that as it means one of the Vikings has to go without.

Hope you enjoy the match mate and get to see Coleman play RB to make us both happy!
