He even rested his best players (arrogantly) in the Anfield derby so yeah I can’t see him risking them. Would be brave to go without any of the front three because their reserves are so poor.

Its a fair observation, but I struggle to recall many teams giving them a hiding at the pit. Plenty have beaten them, sure, but I cant see the tie being done and dusted after 90 minutes.

To me it doesn’t make a difference when the derby is, I don’t like the fixture, mainly because our record stinks. But it’s no surprise our teams don’t do well in Europe, you look at the other leagues around Europe and they will make sure that their Champions League teams will have a nice cushy home game against a team in the bottom half before and after their champions league knock out games and the premier league basically ignore the European fixture list. I don’t think we will get more premier league teams in the last 8 of the champions league until that’s changed.

Anyway, our record is so bad in the derby, even if they rest all their first team, I still think we would only get a draw. I think many of our players freeze against them and part of that comes from the atmosphere around the ground as well

I'd gift City the win the previous Saturday so that they can almost wrap the league up and go full throttle in the 1st leg, forcing Klippety into resting his better players against us so that they are fresh for the 2nd leg.

It would be a price worth paying for a long awaited derby win.
