Not at all mate,but if a player isn't "all that"skill/ability wise the minimum we expect is 100% effort,that kid gave us that and more IMHO.

You are right - the minimum we expect from ANY player is 100% effort.

From an Everton player I expect that and a modicum of talent and ability.

From an Everton player I expect that and a modicum of talent and ability.

I've seen too many in my time who have lacked both the effort and ability unfortunately.

I would absolutely agree that modern day footballers like say Lukaku and Barkley who have tons of ability do not appear to put 100% effort in and it annoys the hell out of me.

I am sure there are examples from the 70's onwards when I first started supporting but , perhaps my memory is failing me in my dotage , they don't resonate.

Where did I say I was anything other than supportive of Denis.

I loved his effort , I was willinging him to do well but ultimately he wan't very good.

I didn't boo him - I have never booed anyone wearing an Everton shirt.
