Wasnt he on loan? So he goes back to his Argie club. He was a trier, and occasionally showed some fine touches, but lacked a bit of finesse in front of goal relying on brute force. Fair play to him, he didnt bitch and moan, and put a shift in when required.

It shows how we as fans have been starved of a true finisher up front where we make heroes out of make shift stop gaps.

This, some of the gushing over him in January was embarrassing, he was badly Adam. Still, massive ticker on him and always gave 110% so hopefully this has been a positive experience for him, and wish him well.

Don't know about January, or other peoples views, but this is why I liked him. We keep players like Neville & Cahill because they can inspire the others (perhaps), well, I think his efforts should have inspired some of the more "gifted" players.

True, but I could go out there and bleed for Everton for no wages, and hope to inspire more gifted players. We can't afford to be a charity, and I'm happy that there is now more money freed up to help support the purchase of proper footballers.

Indeed. I don't think we were a charity by getting him. I think Moyes took another one of his punts & the Straq gave it his all. He was always on a hiding to nothing in regards to stepping up to PL status, but he should go home, proud in the fact that he gave it his all.
I have no issue with him being released and, as you say, if there are funds there for improving the squad, he was always going to be further out from the starting line up. I hope the experience really adds to his career.

Shame for the lad as I thought he gave everything , but really he was a more passionate Brett Angel to be fair....I hope he does manage to carve out a decent career for himself though...

I feel so sad. It was quite a leap for Denis to the Premiership and he did well, all in all.

I can't recall a player becoming so beloved so quickly for doing not all that much.

Gonna shut up now before I start sounding like a Kopite bleating about KKK. :D

If I was a side like Norwich who are going to lose Holt they could do a lot worse than Straq.

He could bully defenders aerially(ask Kompany), his hold up was simple but effective and he'd get you 10-12 in this league.

He weren't great but he was nowhere near as poor as some on here are making out.

I reckon 2-3m would get him and somebody should do.

I think he was decent on the ball

I also think he was so eager to impress he wasn't composed enough. I'd love to have him back on loan for a season and play him up front with Jelavic. Of course that will never happen.

He's pretty crap tho Nik, you're blinded by love!

I just love any player like that. I think he genuinly loved playing for us. That City performance was one of the best/ most comical/ pride filled moment I have ever had supporting Everton.

Yeah I love a bita that too, pure passion. But I don't think we can afford to buy players that aren't that good.

Ha yes I was in the paddock for that. Never been so happy a specific player getting a goal.
