We bought this guy at the wrong time. He's undeniably talented but high maintenance and this season we needed Toyotas, not Bentleys.

Too many people think we are getting these great players at their peak or with the potential to get that back when infact we are getting shadows of what they once were.
Face facts we haven’t got the £50m+ player of 4 seasons ago who was courted by Man U and Real, we’ve got the husk of that player.
If they were any good they wouldn’t have come to us in our current state, as other teams with a chance of playing in Europe / actually wining something would snap them up.
We’re the only way mugs that are willling to continue to pay these players on past glories rather than actual current worth.

In his Tottenham heyday he was playing off Mousa Dembele - a magnificently strong individual - but without that support he struggled. He needs to be surrounded by good players - better than we have - he can't do it on his own.

He needs others to do his running and at Spurs under Pochettino he had that. He is a very talented player when he plays between the lines, but he has never been disciplined positionally and has never been the type of midfielder to track his runners. He needs a free role, with some dogs behind him tidying up.

Was never going to be our archangel was he, lets be honest. Not playing too much is working in our favour ATM with the price tag. Is there something else going on behind the scenes to reduce cost thereby reducing risk. Who's knows... He's here so let's support the lad and hope he does rekindle that footballer of old
